Rosa Koire

“Smart Growth” and Agenda 21

freeacre

Finally free from pressing duties organizing the La Pine Chicken Coop and Garden Tour (Google it to see our cool website), processing rhubarb, taking care of puppies, attending meetings, supporting candidates, etc., it looks as if I have a few moments to myself. So, I want to take the time to share with you the sobering book that Rosa Koire wrote, entitled “Behind the Green Mask: U.N. Agenda 21.” For anyone politically involved, or doing work with non-profits, or community organizing, this is a “must read.”

I found it to be a sort of kick in the gut. Those who are familiar with my values know that my allegiance is to our Mother, the Earth, and to our brothers and sisters, the animals, fish, and flora. I consider myself an environmentalist and come from a “left-wing,” tradition. I support “Think Globally, Act Locally.” I endorse books like James Howard Kunstler’s “The Long Emergency,” the “Long Descent” by the Archdruid, and most of the depleted resource information by Heinberg and others. We live our lives pretty much in sync with the stated goals of the agenda – clean air, water, land, food, etc. So, it is with much chagrin and resentment that I find that, once again, a movement of which I have been in the vanguard has been co-opted by the nefarious nozzles of the corporatocracy.

Rosa Koire has been filmed by various groups that she has spoken to, and she does of great job of explaining the high points of the research she has done to prove her points. I suggest that you listen to her presentations on the web if you want to get an overview without having to read her book. One good one is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugaQzc7OpmY. This one emphasizes the ideas of “communitarianism” vs. individual freedom. Another is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDtCb45Lqt0&feature=related
which is a talk she gave to the Tea Party that has a little more detail about land use issues. She ends both of her talks with encouraging us to stand together and resist this globalist agenda to control all the resources and people of the world. She says, “We can do it!”

I gotta tell you, I am not so sure. You see, we have been fighting land use issues and working on creating a County Planning Commission Plan for years now. La Pine was chosen along with three other communities in the U.S. to be guinea pigs for a plan to eventually go national that requires sophisticated ATT systems to replace septic systems in rural areas. The U.S.G.S. used millions of dollars to do a study that concluded that there is an on-going “emergency” (projected to hit in 100-150 years at the rate the county was growing in the height of the housing boom) with the projected nitrate load in our water, land, and rivers. La Pine was picked because our area has mostly 1-5 acre lots, whereas north of here, the lots are 5 and 10 acres. So our population is more “dense.” Anyway, these new systems would require about $25 to $40 thousand dollars to install and endless money to maintain. They require a dedicated phone line to keep track of the information, as well as a $400 to $500 per year maintenance contract with regular inspections. They also burn up their pumps if they are left more than three months at a time with nothing to process because the home is a vacation property. They also can’t be installed just anywhere and have to be in approved sites. Much of our area is being red-tagged and no building is being allowed. So, people can’t live on their own land. And, they are not being compensated for it, either.

Happily, this area has a lot of retired government employees, researchers, statisticians, scientists, water experts, etc. who have not just departed from a banana boat, and who were able to find many significant flaws in the USGS report. We went to work to stop this thing. That was five years ago. So far, we have petitioned, attended countless meetings, replaced two county commissioners, the mayor, got the most disagreeable county staff toadies laid off, and voted to officially end the “Local Rule” as it was called in the best Owellian tradition. But, it still has not stopped. Then the county gave up control of the issue and tossed it to the DEQ as well as to the twenty year state Planning Commission to resolve.

But, despite the fact that the voters decisively repealed the “Local Rule,” it lives on. Coming up with one lame excuse or reason after another, the bureaucratic minion in charge continues to require these outrageous systems be built despite the law’s repeal and the replacements on the Board of County Commissioners, and despite evidence that the nitrate load in our area is going down, not up.

How can this be? All of us have been perplexed. What is the ultimate motivation? We figured “greed.” But, there seemed to be more. My answer now is “Agenda 21.” It is not so much about greed as about Control. This is only a fraction of the greater corporatocracy ideal of world-wide control of basically all people and things. This is the Matrix that we are finding ourselves living in. Individuality and freedom are concepts that are to be denied in favor of “community” and the “public good.” That is, we are disenfranchised of our right to live in the word as sovereign individuals and our constitution promising “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” – as well as our Bill of Rights. We are dumbed down and silenced if we object to being herded and milked like bovine animals raised in a feedlot as a resource of the globalist Big Agra, Big Pharma, Big Finance, and One World Government elites.

Not that many years ago, I would have thought that only the paranoid, fear-based, moronic ultra-right wing pin heads and flakes would subscribe to this idea.

That was before I recognized how the Women’s Movement was high-jacked or co-opted by the same cabal. Right about the time that Henry Kissinger started dating that “champion of women’s rights” and editor of Ms. Magazine, Gloria Steinham, the scum queen. Let’s take a quick look at how the “women’s liberation” movement has morphed into us as a people embracing tyranny, not gaining freedom.

Back in the early 70’s, upon the publishing of The Feminine Mystique, we were struggling to re-define ourselves as females. We were exploring our femininity. We were discovering our cervixes and clitorises. We were beginning to gain a measure of control of our bodies and ourselves. We were exploring the value that we contributed to the world with our unpaid service as mothers and wives. We began to demand “equal pay for equal work,” and ask that more careers be opened to women who had differing talents and skills. We wondered if there was a power in femininity as well as masculinity. We explored the idea that there was a metaphysical component to this dual relationship. We resented only being “ornaments” on some guy’s arm, and valued on something as superficial as our appearance. We were looking into the Divine Feminine and the concept of “Mother Right.”

Instead, we got funneled into being “able” to work “like a man.” We became engineers, scientists, athletes, soldiers. We never have achieved equal pay, but now it takes two paychecks to even begin to make ends meet. Mothers of young children put their toddlers into daycare centers that were supposed to educate and socialize them for the betterment of the larger society while their mothers could develop careers of their own. Now our kids are dumber than ever and we have a gang problem of breath-taking proportions - an abundance of children seemingly raised by wolves. Up the income ladder a bit, and the children are often self-absorbed, materialistic, demanding, alienated little mutants with no way to contribute in a helpful way to their families. Of course, we still love each other for the most part. We and our dogs love each other too. But, striving to create a world where each person is valued for the God-given abilities that they were blessed with is no longer in the picture. Now the “news” features tits and ass wherever one looks. Now, we’ve got Sweden making it illegal for men to pee standing up. Now they are taking gender pronouns out of the language. “Males” and “women” are “wales” or something…. There! They have destroyed that which has given us our identity from the start – both masculinity and femininity – that which protected us and nurtured us until now.

What happens to people who’s culture has been destroyed? Take a look at the American Indian experience. In the latest National Geographic, it outlines the destructive power of the government schools and broken treaties, the lies, the alcohol, the poverty, the lost traditions and religious center of the people. It’s the same in Australlia with their aboriginals. People forced to deny all the things that made them uniquely human. Great job, Brownie!

This contrived, planned, all-encompassing, planned demolition of all that we believe in cannot be defeated by a direct onslaught. They have all the money, media, governments, banks, special interests, and on and on. I hope that I am wrong, but not from what I have observed so far. And, I am getting to old to spend my whole life fighting them. Even if we were to be able to apply the brakes to this Titanic of a culture, the momentum will last through my lifetime.
So, as our elder, Montana Freeman, has often lamented, “What’s a motherfucker to do?” Do I continue to shun the bastards as much as I can? Do I join some sort of revolution? Do I move to Ecuador or Bali? Do I pray for the leveling of the playing field by EMP or asteroid hit? Look for the “benevolent” aliens that should have shown up already? Eat my medicinal brownies all day long and try not to give a rat’s ass? What?

I think I want to focus on what feels good. Kindness, humor (although I have not been very humorous today, have I?), relationships, nature, puppies. I probably will not give up sarcasm, vulgar gestures, and name-calling, as it is enjoyable. But, that’s just me….

Oh please, don't consider giving up any part of that which makes you yourself and its so good to hear the puppies are integrated into the whole story. But yes, looking into a friendlier culture isn't a bad idea at all. If you come up with some possibilities, who knows who else might join you. Not talking a commune or a meetup, but a change of nationality. A climate where our contributions have some honest possibility of bearing fruit, where creativity is encouraged and appreciated, and spirituality and unity of all living things is embraced instead of doomy and privacy is respected because respect of others and nature is primary within the culture.
This place has just gotten too crazy. We, as people of certain mindset, really are not helpful to the program, but our couch change is. And as long as we are here, our very presence is supportive of a system with which it is impossible to agree. And how many years have we been trying to peacefully coexist in this situation? A whole lifetime is too long for that while a lifetime in failure without resolution is too short.

I think there are a lot of aware folks in the “What’s a motherfucker to do?” camp, specially seeing various "movements" and other protests if not being initiated, then usurped and controlled, by the very people they are proportedly against, globally.

SATS,

From the previous post and your last comment. Definition of an expert that was circulating around a bunch of years ago; A has been drip under pressure.

Freeacre, your last paragraph, thats the path I would choose :-) Its not about turning away from the truth as it is, or the holding of false hopes, but a way for us to proceed into a future where we involve ourselves in the myriad endeavors by which we can bring goodness into this world.

Tomorrow is a new day, and you have a choice of how you will spend/fill your hours, your days and years to come. I say better it be on the level of deeds that we each can actually make some meaningful progress. No, these things won't save the world from its dire trajectory, but I'd rather do postive works of any size, than carry on with a mind and outlook devoid of any shred of inspiration or will left to see all that still is so special in this world.

But with that said, along the way forward I still think its good to put some time towards keeping abreast of whats unfolding too. Here are some recent thoughts from Paul Craig Roberts:

War On All Fronts

Washington's three-front war: Syria, Lebanon, Iran in the Middle East, China in the Far East, Russia in Europe...

I second that.

Ignorance is bliss, but then you don't want to be caught flat footed, either, as in, "What's happening? How come the power's out? I'm going to miss "Dancing With the Stars!" like the the sheeple will be when TSHTFF.

Even if you had a few million bucks, I seriously doubt if even that is enough to change things, even locally. The corporations' tenticles seem to be all encompassing.

I say, keep eating your brownies, play with the puppies, hope for a killer asteroid and please, please don't give up sarcasm, vulgar gestures and name-calling (the opposite i.e. going all Oprah is boring and makes me want to throw-up a little.)

So fa, why don't you stop beating around the bush and come out and say what you really mean?
And why haven't I got the intellect to think up an new line in response to your full flight tirades?
Problem is probably divide and rule and it should have been fixed when it could have been fixed – a long time ago before we went in for boat burning. Apart from the alcoholic injuns and the alcoholic Abbos, when you eventually do go up to the leader of the Black Panthers and say “Let's you and us stand shoulder to shoulder against this crock of shit”, what sort of answer do you think you are going to get? Ah, for a return to the heady days when we thought we were pally with the bosses and they were pally with us. That was before reality set in and we found that drugs were not going to make the problem go away. Yeh, just what IS a motherfucker to do?

Apart from that, it was like this today. I was to the doctor, nothing serious just a repeat prescription for the wife and I said to him “ Can I ask you a hypothetical or a theoretical doctor patient question?”
“Fire away” says he
“OK, If the World Health Organisation were to declare a level six pandemic emergency, would you forcibly vaccinate me against my will?”
“Never” came the firm and immediate response
“Well that is an answer” said I.
I believe him too but I do believe there would be enormous pressure to do the correct thing should it not turn out to be hypothetical. Still it is nice to have something in your armoury should events turnout differently. That might be a good question to ask next time any of you have to visit your own doctor. It would be kinda nice to collect the responses on this site, for no particular reason.

Nina said “A climate where our contributions have some honest possibility of bearing fruit, where creativity is encouraged and appreciated, and spirituality and unity of all living things is embraced instead of doomy and privacy is respected because respect of others and nature is primary within the culture.”
My, I do agree with that, especially the part about contributions having an honest possibility of bearing fruit. So long as we all remember that holding hands and singing Kumbaya might make us feel better, it isn't going to gat the job done.

Hotspringswizard said...

Regarding this you wrote Sats " So long as we all remember that holding hands and singing Kumbaya might make us feel better, it isn't going to gat the job done ",

I don't think Nina is suggesting that sentiment or option with her words. And for sure that is not my perspective. There are myriad things people can apply their efforts towards, but all these deeds of action do not have the same impacts or results.

If there is a concrete wall in front of you, one could beat their head against it in a fruitless effort to provide for a way though it, or, there may also be a way around the wall that would find you on the other side, with your head in much better shape :-)

SATS

I know both Nina and you were not suggesting that. I am agreeing with what you are saying. I was merely warning that some people might consider that a useful thing to do. Maybe my remark could be taken flippantly but I have heard of people facing personal pressure going Hari Krischner or taking other actions which are not going to improve their collective lot. They should also try not to let depression set in when events seem overwhelming. I guess what I am saying is that it must be something that improves the situation overall and opting out is not an option. I have a feeling that I am not getting this over very well but I think you know what I mean.

murph said...

SATS and Hotsprings,

You both are expressing an interesting dichotomy that we struggle with frequently. Do you spend productive time fighting in some way against that which you simply cannot influence to change? (the battering your head against a cement wall) Or do you focus on your own life and try and ignore that which needs changing? (denial in some form)

I would think that it is obvious that none of us are going to change the really big national problems. Even fighting at the local level has tenuous results as Freeacre's post talks about in our local fight.

How much effort do we put into in fighting the unjust, the outright criminal conduct without overwhelming community support?

I find this to be an interesting problem

Cheer up freeacre. As Decline sets in, the abundant energy and technology that allows for this kind of centralized control will disintegrate through ennui!

In the meantime, it won't be much fun watching the powers-that-be attempt to keep their grasp upon every little detail of our lives. But it just can't last. As for corporation's part in this-- they, too, are set for a massive fall.

Some good things come from the upcoming collapse of civilization as we know it today. Independence will come back-- if only because the choice to be dependent will disappear.

Thanks, Everybody! Great comments. I love it when we all put in a thought and, together, they become wisdom.

I'm sorry it has taken me so long to respond. The dear little puppies chewed up my keyboard cord, and we had to drive 25 miles to Bend to get a new one. I had to threaten to make velcro suits for them and stick them to a wall if they do that again...

Hi Freeacre,
Thanks for your clear-eyed and open-minded discussion on UN Agenda 21/Sustainable Development. It may be hardest for those of us on the left, those of us who consider ourselves environmentalists, to look at the ugly truth. We have been manipulated in order to further a globalist totalitarian plan. There is nowhere to go. We need to stand and fight. We have been conditioned to think that 'fighting is negative and we should go with consensus.' This is the Communitarian social engineering that manipulates us to passivity when we are being over-run. Rather than feeling helpless, I encourage you to do what you can to spread the information. Educate, refuse to cooperate, expose collaborators, research the local plans and planners--be the Resistance. We won't win them all but we will win. Yes they keep coming back but we are there, and our numbers are growing. Thank you for your post--Be strong, sister.

Perhaps you could suggest some other changes or let us know what you think. We would love to hear more from you. It's really been a dog fight here, and it has national implications. From reading your book, I expect that the Agenda 21 moles will be rearing their ugly little snouts soon - once they read our edits to the Plan. Stay tuned...

I am so grateful to you (and yours) for your courageous resistance efforts. Thanks for the encouragement.

Hotspringswizard said...

Sats, I agree with those points you made, thanks for the clarification :-)

Yes Murph, there is the reality that if one choose to live simply, and focus on very local issues to their immediate lives then that leaves the world scale problems un-addressed, or more likely, directed on a course by those with ill intentions.

I would say that the dynamics and vast intracacies of the way events are unfolding, in their gargantuan scale in the many facets of what makes up the flow of things, that to my mind, there is so much momentum pushed by the myriad behaviors of humans, taking it all on a ride in the wrong direction, that the multitudes of really big issues will end up running their errant course, because the general prevailing natural tendencies of humans will mean as it has been, it will be.

I would offer just one example to show what I mean, even though of course I could site a long list of them. Jaque Cousteau with his influence and exposure worked diligently to try and bring to light the dangers facing the world's ocean's. Of course he had lots of similiar minded people helping him with his efforts. He warned of what might occur to the oceans integrity if humanity did not respond/act.

But now in this time what do we have, oceans that are in a much more degraded state than when cousteau made his warnings. And this is my point, that there inherent natural tendencies in humanity, causing repetitive behaviors which in this specific case meant that there would never be enough people with the knowledge or abilities to do what should have been done, to even come close to overwhelming or conteracting the degrading behaviors and activites carried out by the vast majority of the rest of humanity.

Now some may offer up that " if only " this, or " if only " that would happen, but as related to the dire direction things in this world are headed, " if only " prognostications are for the most part just wishful thinking when it comes to reality, what actual occurs in the actions of humans.

In our cultures there are lots of movies, stories where hardships are faced, but everything works out in the end. So I think many are caught up with this idea that in the real world, everything can work out in the end too, and if it doesn't on this grave issue or that, then its just a case that they ( individuals, peoples, etc ) did not try hard enough.

The real world however is not some " happily ever after " fairytale, and you can spend your whole life beating your head on the wall of this problem or that, and all you will be left with is a hurt head, and a bloody wall.

So when I see so much going in bad directions, with such unstopable force, I think to myself its more practical, and productive to apply my efforts towards living more simply, and considerations on the local level. I see it as the idea of understanding to what extent we are able the direction things are going, then take those realities and try to develop the means to better adapt to those unfolding circumstances. That in itself of course will be a very big challenge, let alone thinking you can stop the larger converging negative trends of our time. Each will have to choose the course of action they think is best for them.

Freeacre, your cracking me up big time with that velcro the dog stuff :-) May I offer up a suggestion, Grey Tape their little paws together, problem solved :-)

Can't have a campfire on the great religious days or cross-quarters here. It's control of religion, and life itself when it's cold, and you can't afford $600 for heating, but the corporate news people call it a "No Burn Day."

We have all these chemicals coming down from aerial spraying,

all this stuff coming down from Fukushima.

Yet all they report is pollen, and smog.

Our city council is an ICLEI member, they use the Delphi Technique and Hegelian Dialectic to manipulate all this, they say they are out of money, but look at their (CAFR) Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports and you see they are not broke.

They frankly all need to be arrested for fraud before they nuke police and fire. That's just the city level, the state "California" has a CAFR too, and say they're "broke."

At some point they are going to force scars on peoples spirit, as control turns to violence. I believe this is why the people just don't rise up and take care of business, because scaring your spirit with murder is a one directional choice. Is it worth scaring your spirit? For many it still isn't, but what about when your friend gets wronged, still not enough, what about your mate? Your children? Yourself?

The people spraying us and using haarp weapon technology, have already fired shots at us. It's just that the shots move slowly.

We've had wind, which is unexpected, given our climatic history. It's usually quiet here. June is normally our wettest month. This June was the driest on record.

Garden is doing pretty damned good, as long as we keep the water to it. Miss a day, and it shows.

I have a toad I'm feeding grasshoppers. Grasshoppers seem about normal, to high. They're eating leaves but otherwise not doing too much damage.

I picked a raspberry yesterday that had a clutch of ladybug eggs attached to it. (Anybody know what ladybug eggs look like?) I pinched it in the middle, and put the good half back.

Walter Burien is someone I don't believe anybody on the campfire has ever brought up, as I recall. Glad you mentioned CAFR. It's well past time to discuss this topic. Not sure Greer has approached the CAFR stuff, but it seems right up his alley.

Several things bother me about the recent movie massacre. One, the timing: Everybody knows how horrible it is to kill innocent people. We rise as one to extend out outrage and sympathy for the victims. But, where is our sympathy and outrage when one of our clones bombs a wedding party or some other group of civilians with no warning? Hardly raises an eyebrow. Plus, now this will be exploited to increase gun control. Nobody says, "Hey, if anybody else was armed at the movie they could have shot the SOB! Just sayin' ...

Seeing alot on RT about Drones these day since more and more these programs will be coming back to the US for domestic usage.

For example, almost every major news organization in the country has agreed to submit virtually all quotes from anyone involved in the Obama campaign or the Romney campaign to gatekeepers for "quote approval" before they will be published. If the gatekeeper in the Obama campaign does not want a certain quote to get out, the American people will not see it, and the same thing applies to the Romney campaign. more"

us that were here during this wonderful nightmare called the american dream it was a brain damaging time where even then the distractions of the propaganda machines were in full swing we knew that it was a fucked up death just waiting to hatch its new clutch of clones.

right down to going home after a date with a beautiful cutie and going and jacking off to relieve the ''blue balls'' that happen after kissing with the cutie for hours on, this was just one more event in the course or living the dream/death.
girls did not fuck except for the very few that were desperate for a date and they were in high demand as you can imagine? maybe not.
it all goes along with the fact that this society is a sick assed joke and even then we knew it ever if we didn't know how it came into being.
one of my worse memories of that time was as i was laying between the legs of this beautiful girl i was in such blue ball relieving wonder after dropping off this chick that was saving it for jesus and somehow bestowed the privilege of meeting this wonder of saturday night strange times she led me to that which now days would be called ''thank you almighty spirit'' sanity is now in place...i think i might live without killing something....
the hormones are one of spirits most embellished gifts but the cocksuckers that demand how that is to be nourished need to rot in their own hell forever.
fuck those cocksuckers they need to die.
religion is death, plain and simple and if this is offensive to anyone then all i can say is welcome to blueball, and enjoy it.. otherwise figure out a way to get your pussy some other way;...
if this sounds crude then how about watching a video of bodies being blow to hell with a hellfire missile compliments of cockoboma bitch..

my tribe is awaking, thank spirit, this is the fourth day of no chemtrails after a ceremony of thankfulness that such a thing could happen....
coincidence ? ;maybe.. but i somehow think that the limitations of the fucks that think that they are in charge are an illusion and we that love life and all that we have been blessed with are the recipients of the actual .
just a thought //

Speaking of " killing something " MF, last weekend I went to Deep Creek Hot Springs and while there having my lunch under the shade of a tree in the mid-day heat I was chatting with another regular visitor to that special place when this exceedinly drunken young man came wandering up, he stopped, looked at us and said that he was going to have to " kill somebody there today "!

He had about a 10 inch knife in a sheaf tucked in his shorts band. He just stood there for a bit looking down in his drunken haze of mind. Then after a bit he looked up and said that we ( me and the regular I was talking to ) would not be the ones he killed.

He went on his way out of sight then his friend came up inquiring about what his friend was saying and we told him what had happened, and advised him that he better have a talk with his friend because saying crap like that might well get his friend a very strong reaction, depending on who it was said too.

My friend and I decide to head on upstream to explore the creek since no telling what a drunken fool like this might really do, attack someone or worse. It all reminded me of the recent theater massacre in Colorado.

Later while upstream we saw a police chopper come into the area and it was circling DCHS for a long time. We thought maybe this drunken guy may have actually done something but as it turned out it was his equally drunken friend who the chopper was there for. He had become comotose for a while and was airlifted out.

Our societies are ever more under pressure and of course we will be seeing more and more problem behaviors from the affected populations.

Good to see you back sharing your thoughts MF :-)

Also related to the subject matter of my last post, I have been a long time contributor ( I'm also one of the moderators ) of the Deep Creek Hot Springs Forum, and for a long time some years ago I posted alot of early information like what is posted at my blog at this forum. I have also mentioned my blog link a few times there too.

So, these springs are very popular and alot of folks view this forum so there exist the possiblility of some people seeing my anti gov, anti US info, especially military types, then combined with me being a well known regular visitor to these springs, complete with my Flickr photo site with many pics of me being a link to that forum, and it all presents the possibility of me being confronted by some individual or individuals that want to have it out with me over my views and the information I have posted.

One day when I was down there this drunken group of " marines ", ( especially one of them ) were all riled up because another visitor to the springs had a towel which was the design of the american flag, and that person ( in the ultra patriot minds of these marines ) had actually layed it on the ground and was laying on it. The one guy said he was so mad that he just wanted to go across the creek and kick this persons ass.

So you can only imagine what a drunken person like this might do, if they at that time knew my views as related to the information I post at my blog, as I sat within feet of him and his other drunken Rah, Rah america buds in the hotpool.

So this all presents the real issue that I need to be gaurded when I go to the busy place that DCHS is in the summer, because it did run through my mind briefly when that drunken guy threatened that he needed to kill someone there ( what I mentioned about in my previous post ), in the brief time when he was looking down, did this have something to do with my info he had seen at the DCHS Forum or something. Maybe while I'm there a guy just walks up and shoots me before I even know whats going on. It could happen.

So these days I'm as watchful as I can be when I go to DCHS in the busy summer months, but generally I just hit quieter areas of the creek, which is safer and actually more the environment I want to be in, serene and pristine natural surroundings :-)

Repent, fully functioning police states are hugely expensive to set up and operate. I think that's probably the least likely outcome of the crisis ahead of us. The sort of Third World pseudo-autocracy in which the president-for-life and his troops control the capital city and a few crucial points in the hinterlands, and work out a modus vivendi with other power centers elsewhere in the country? That's a good deal more likely, and so is the "failed state" model in which government goes missing for an extended period and informal power centers emerge to contend with one another. There are also more hopeful possibilities; I'll be discussing those later.

Montana, you said a mouthful. You add yet another dimension to the "women's movement." I think our sensuality is a large part of our connection to the Earth. One of her many gifts. That sounds sort of religious, but then that's me.

Hot Springs - Reminds me of the Cosby, Stills, Nash and Young song where the guy feels paranoid, "like looking into the mirror and seeing a police car." "Almost Cut My Hair" I think it was called.
Tensions seem high. I hate to be politically incorrect, but you could get one of those tazers that looks like a cell phone and put it in your pocket. Especially if the family is along... I dunno. I know you hate pockets.

Great links, HOt Springs, Lucretia, and Rockpicker. Damn, there is a lot going on. Read Clif's latest on is halfpasthuman site at the top?

Survival Acres put up the link to this documentary in his most recent post. I could not get his version to go full screen so here is a link to it that will. Its a well done assessment of the world situation in general. I noticed that as far as the real story of 9-11, all thats mentioned in this doc is that it provided the " pretext " for the exploitation of resources to come in that area as per the invasion of Afganistan, Iraq, etc. So often the dark truth of 9-11 is avoided. I had seen parts of this doc on Free Speech TV but I had wanted to view it in full and I did so this afternoon.

The Crisis of Civilization

rockpicker said...

Hotsprings; Noam Chomsky infamously said it doesn't matter who did 9/11, we should just deal with it.

So we go on, not knowing who did John Kennedy's murder, or Bobby's, or Martin's, or John,Jr.'s, or Oklahoma City, or Waco, or Aurora until we just give up trying to make sense of the press reports and accept the official line. It's called 'Learned Helplessness'. A segment of the plebiscite will accept anything it's told by officialdom.
Those who question the official line are belittled by official operatives, and that sentiment is carried forward by the clueless rabble until consensus overrules objection.

So what happens to the national psyche when society 'learns' to expect national trauma will never be satisfactorily explained, ever again? Isn't one function of 'science' to protect society from bullshit?

Like the official explanation of what happened on 9/11 bullshit?

Like the shooter could not have kicked in a heavy steel theater exit door that is built to open outwards. Bullshit.

This is how we have to live from now on? Condemned to Wonderland, homeless, jobless, our moral compasses spinning?

Bullshit.

Hotspringswizard said...

RP, Well I do not let the BS alter my efforts in my own life to appreciate and pursue moral behavior. You may have meant something else regarding this " our moral compasses spinning ". We also have a home thats paid for so that is very helpful in these times. For now we have what we really need, but for how much longer remains to be seen. So much crazy and threatening stuff going on around us, like the truth of 9-11 being swept under the rug very successfully, but then, looking at history, its par for the course of how things have gone. As far as science being our " protector ", it along with the myriad other facets of society all to often gets manipulated towards ill ends, which is not the failure of science itself, but of the actions of those who use it for various nefarious purposes.

rockpicker said...

Hotsprings; Didn't mean anything personal in my last comment. I simply wanted to point out how conditioned we are to believe whatever the official story is. When we finally give up challenging the narrative, and accept it as reality, it's like that moment in The Body Snatchers when Donald Sutherland points his accusing finger and screeches.

Getting us to go along with stupid shit we know doesn't make sense and can't be true is how they slip Manchurian candidates past the electorate.

Case in point is Obama's birth certificate, placed, voluntarily, on the White House website last year. An obvious forgery, built clumsily from several documents. Don't have to have any forensic background to see it. The act of offering it up as a bona fide document is a felony and impeachable offense. Yet everyone pretends he's legit, so he gets away with more and more bullshit.
So does Congress. So do the banksters.

Like Charlie McGrath says, "We've been rope-a-doped."

Anonymous said...

well i suspect rp is referring to the collective moral compass.

Hotspringswizard said...

Yeah RP I figured your comment about the " moral compass " was generally directed, and not at me :-) That Charlie McGraph puts out good stuff. I've caught his vids here and there but he probably has a main site that would be one for me to check out more often.

Speaking of the vast majority of the people believing in the prevailing " storyline " fed them by the PTB, when I go up to my Mom's for dinner I am surrounded by people like that. I have broached my views on various occasions but I then get pounced on and it turns into a heated situation. Its like they can offer up their opinion of things but me ( being in their minds ) the errant oddball with crazy ideas, I'm expected just to hush up so dinner will be peaceful, which allows them to speak their minds un-fettered and be content with their fanciful views of the world.

At least in private conversations my Mom will listen to what I have to say and still remains civil, even though on most things our views about whats going on are very differant. She and my step dad get their vision of the world, of reality, from great information sources like Faux News :-)

As far as Obummer and his birth certificate questions, with what goes on in this time it would not supprise me if what you say is actually true. Apart from that his actions have clearly shown him to be a tool of the elites, doing their bidding while fooling the masses with his slick facade he portrays of being someone who really cares for the 99%. I dislike him as much as Bush, and really he has done many things even worse. We know that Democracy here is a shame, and elections are just a big show to fool the masses into thinking they have a choice. I notice George Carlin saying the same in the recent vid link posted here at the Trout Clan.

Well seems from parusing through the many internet sources that things are poised soon perhaps to make a big turn for the worse. Greer's latest is up and worth checking out.

The family and I are heading up to our property in Northern Cal. We are leaving this Saturday and we will be back the following weekend. I won't be online during that time as the area is kinda remote, about 18 miles northeast of Redding. I'm looking forward to some hiking in the forest, and refreshing dips in Cow Creek :-)

One thing, I have not spoken with my brother since January, we had a falling out, long story as such things are usually. Its something I had thought might happen, considering the actions of my brother in recent years. Basically I finally stepped on a land mine, one of the many that were becoming increasingly hard to avoid regarding my brother's life and his views, and thats why you have not heard me mentioning anything about him in a good while. So at least for now, we are on seperate paths.

rockpicker said...

I urge everyone to do a search for the birth certificate, and view it for yourselves. It's so amateurish, it's hard to figure what is going on. I mean, it's not even close. It appears to be a set-up. It's that badly done!

Not only that, but search "The First Time I Heard of Barack". By Tom Fife.

Then ask yourself, why don't we know anything about this guy? How come there aren't fifteen biographies bouncing around on the best seller's list?aaa

When I have spoken with folks, mostly family, about our disconnect from Mother Earth, I get some odd looks. I know some have expressed their "concern" about my beliefs. I make no bones about that at all, as I have explained to them I do talk to the plants and animals, even the five or six garter snakes that live on the back property.

As the talks turn to the up coming elections and who will be more effective in turning the economy around and create more jobs so folks can begin to buy again, I say none of them! How can wind bag politicians promise things that are in limited supply? They are even more disconnected from the Earth than anyone.

It seems that some base their belief on how much the gas prices have dropped, that this is a sign that the economy is recovering. What a joke! I then go on with the other limited resources such as water, food, minerals and yes, even oil that was made from ancient plants and animals and sunlight. I will then ask, where did those shoes you are wearing come from, how about the clothes on your back or the chair you are sitting on, the car you drove up in and the smart phone you use, where did all that material come from? Mother Earth! What happens when that is all depleted? Where or who will you turn to next, your politician, fauxed news, MSM?

I for one, see no hope in most folks turning around anytime soon and go back to Nature. To me, it seems people are stumbling in the dark, not knowing where they are from or where they are going. Disconnected from the Mother Earth.

Just my two cents worth.

Their newly built home is on a hilltop with an awesome view of Mt Shasta to the north and Mt Lassen off to the south east. The are off the grid on solar power with a good well water supply. Bob was showing me his garden a bit ago which is doing very excellent, being made up of raised beds he did out of logs gathered on his property. There is a big pond on their land and they have a big garage used as a workshop for the really incredible iron works they do.

I'd better get back to visiting with them and will catch up next week on what you all have been discussing :-)

This was posted on Kerry's blog, Project Camelot, today.

"DISPLACED CIVILIANS ARMY PREP

Monday, 30 July 2012 22:18
Written by Kerry Cassidy

I received the following from a concerned citizen regarding preparations the Army is making and the new "soccer fields" being created...

As both the Canaries evacuation process and the Military's food packing process at Cheyenne Mountain in Denver get rolling along I just thought I'd drop you a line to let you know what the US Army's Civil Affairs (Special Operations) units have been training on since March of this year. They are training on locating and re-locating "DISPLACED CIVILIANS". There is a write up on it in this months issue of "Warrior Citizen", The OFFICIAL magazine of the US ARMY RESERVE. They make no attempt to hide what it is they're doing now. The write up is on the 450th Civil Affairs Battalion based out if Virginia but I'm sure this is MOS wide. Anyone who is paying attention can easily start putting these pieces together.

I don't know about anyone else, but where I live here in Central California, there have been a lot of sunken-in "Soccer Fields" being built. They are sunk in the ground at about 10 to 15 feet, outfitted with mono pole stadium style field lighting and are surrounded by cyclone fencing with gates on them. One of these fields in particular has a small 6X6 area that is fenced in and inside of this fence is telemetry equipment and an electronic wind sock. (The type that has, and looks like 3 spoons spinning around on top of it) Directly across from this "Soccer Field" is one of those new fancy highway bulletin boards that light up and tell you to report drunk drivers etc. And on top of this electronic bulletin board sits a camera that likes to swivel around, not only looking down the highway, but it likes to watch the "Soccer Field" for some reason. I know because I drive by this field and a couple of more just like it every day. These aren't "Parks", and our city has never, nor will they ever have, at any time, enough soccer teams that would justify or even constitute a reason to build so many of these types of concentration camps, uh,.. I mean soccer fields.

Its blatantly obvious to those of us who are AWAKE AND AWARE and watching what is being put into place around us. The question is, is it a planned event, or are they preparing for a natural one?

I'll send pictures of the fields tomorrow and compare them to our city's actual Parks where kids actually live around and play in. You'll be amazed at how BIG these new "fields" are. It's obvious to any body following all of this stuff what these places are. You'd have to be an idiot to not recognize what you're looking at. Buckle up.

Out here."

Hmm Sunken soccer fields, detention camps for no apparent purpose, fields full of three man coffins. How long will it be before we find out where it all ends?

Last night I fell asleep on the sofa after my evening meal and woke up just before bed time. Boy I hate it when that happens. So I was sitting idly musing when it occurred to me about this financial crisis. If the stock market and financial derivatives markets are a zero sum game in that for every gain there is an associated loss and for every loss there is an associated gain, then who has got all this money that the too big to fail banks have lost and which we are being required to replace? If whoever it is, is stuffing it into mattresses then they are going to loose out because of inflation depreciation. I can't really see that. If they are recycling it into the banking system then the banks haven't really got that big of a problem. So who exactly is it that we are being 'asked' to give life support to? Anybody got an idea on this one or am I being naive? Perhaps someone should ask Max Kiezer.

Palooka's Revenge said...

sats.. i'm about as dumb as a rock on this stuff too and a lot of this hocus pocus wheel/deal is so complicated even the industry can't sort out their own bullshit.

on a buy/sell trasaction, yes, seems to me its a zero sum game less commissions. so there's a rake, usually on both ends.

but that don't acct for the 'lost' trillions eh? 2 factors involved there that have to do with the so-called health of financial entities are valuation (of the so-called 'secruities' underpinning the instrument) and liquidity of the entity. but when they take debt and call it an asset, sooner or later there could be big trouble. especially when 'leverage to da moon' becomes bid'ness as usual.

ie.... the G10 nations have a combined debt of 70 trillion thats been used as collarteral for 700 trillion in derivatives (and i've read that estimate is conservative and more likely somewhere north of a quadrillon). 700T is 1200% over GLOBAL GDP. which is another way of saying there's big trouble in river city.

debt as collateral? ya, sounds like one of dem oxymorons right? or is it accounting for morons? ... p

Anonymous said...

SATS

Sounds about right to me p.
Valuation is only someones opinion of what something is worth, ie what they think it can be sold for. Like all these sub primes that were valued at face. Then when they were defaulted on the lenders ran into a liquidity problem because nobody had the money to pick them up even at a knock down price. Seems to me it was a designed to fail Ponzi scheme where someone cleans up whils the going is good. I guess when it all goes tits up they will have a better class of shit than the rest of us.

freeacre said...

Taking the most positive outlook I can muster (for once), pondering the sunken "soccer fields," the military/EMA camps, the coffins, the executive orders that allows the gov't to control and internet, all communications, and power over virtually everything, as well as the financial crisis, maybe it's a natural disaster that they know is coming. If, for instance, they know that lots of people are going to be killed, and the electrical grid will go down, that would effectively evaporate the trillions of $$ that are only electrical blips at this point anyway, wouldn't it? Poof! No more debt!
There are all sorts of natural disasters that could wipe out a lot of people, as we know. EMP from the Sun, the debris field from Nibiru, the space ribbon we seem to have entered, the "fluff" thing, and God only knows what all. I mean, they aren't building all these underground facilities to raise mushrooms.
On the other hand, I am a tad nervous about the possibility of a world-wide pandemic outbreak when the Olympians all return to their native lands if they got exposed to some hideous thing in London. That would really suck.
Hope we'll all be saved if I win the Publisher's Clearinghouse $5,000 a week for life. I figure we could all go to Ecuador or something. Ha!

Hey all,

Found a good article on Global Research this morning that I thought was interesting:

"Why Are Things Crumbling Around Us…and Could Easily Get Worse?"

Of course, if I was the author of the article, the title would've been, "Why are we DOOMED?"

On the garden front -

Hello Freeacre:

I empathize with your frustration. We are entering the phase of control which Anarchists term "containment". For decades they were regarded as a loser fringe. Now we see they saw it coming.

I'm trapped in an East Coast suburb which I regard as doomed by several forces. I'll classify them as racial, ecological, administrative and belligerent. Our bankers have decided there will be WW III and cities will be smashed by the incredible technology out there. I don't blame the Iranians for hitting back to the max. Or it might be a false flag.

Our bankers are killing us with floods of culturally alien immigrants also. They want a piece of the pie, which is shrinking. This is the other danger where I live. The old populations, I mean the older established stock, will be expected to put out jobs, grants, education space, and trim their language. If the newbies don't get it they'll riot. They also compete with African Americans for the shrinking pie. That's another subset of the coming warfare. This is the ugly truth, what I observe on the streets.

I'm the wrong color in my neighborhood. I'm about 5 percent. This is the ugly truth again.

Government loves all this; it brings them more control. Now Federal GS-11 workers are driving Mercedeses and Lincolns that they could never afford in the old days. Wanna guess why they have this new power?

Shrinking resources, dying Gaia. The honeybees are GONE from around here. Hardly a peep about this from the MSM. Plastic everywhere, too many cars, strip malls, people. They aren't intelligent and Gaia-conscious like the Dutch, who occupy a Hong Kong density. No, these are aspartame rats who consume, consume, consume. Harsh description but truth. They don't give a damn about Nature. They love urbanism and adrenaline and idiot TV. They are in their element. They vote.

The way out? I don't know. I'm getting rid of my material possessions; I might literally have to flee, and what a blow to leave behind decades of wealth in the form of stuff. This is psychological protection. And I try to keep my data off the Net. Cash is disappearing, per the wishes of the bankers, but I use it every time. Invisibility is the best defense.

The old model of American ease and liberty is fading fast. I know you made a good move by going to rural OR, but bad luck caught you. The Green Police sniffed your area out. Maybe you can move on, while you still can. I know that's a hard thing to consider after the huge amount of work you've put in.

But maybe we should all go nomad until the population culls itself, or is culled. Most of these people are too dumb to live. They will be recycled soon.

Keep writing from the heart, Freeacre.

Best,

Dave
Baltimore, MD

Hey Dave,

Great post. I currently live in the rural PNW, but have visited Baltimore and could not agree more with your assessment. Baltimore is a death trap. If I were in the Atlantic seaboard megalopolis, I would have an intense desire to flee. However, Admin at survial acres has repeatedly commented on the need not to become a refugee and that is what happens when you become a nomad.
Get out to the mountains in eastern PA and hunker down. The zombie hoard will burn itself out in 6 months and then the real game will begin with the survivors (The cannibals vs the carriers of the fire). That's when it might be necessary to go nomad.
Much love all.

SA has good ideas. But I had in mind nomading before the trouble starts. Not a refugee. I mean be off the coast; be an established nomad who is skilled in living this way.

FA's troubles with the corporate green police comes because she owns property. The green police justify themselves because of population pressures, pure and simple. If there's any demand for your property, expect government hassle.

I've seen "developers" in the Annapolis area try to roust old black communities off their land by citing certain uses by the blacks for which their land is not zoned. Government is a tool of corporations. You got nouveaus who will pay big for that waterfront property and the developers will do anything to lift it.

I say go nomad until the population reduces. Government and police will reduce correspondingly. Until then, owning land looks to be a liability. I could be wrong; maybe exceptions in regions. Homework?

I'm not certain what to do.

its pretty easy to understand the nature of to much ain't it?
some of the northwest tribes in the previous country called land of the free, hahahahahahah
well, at a point in time the tribes had a thing called potlatch .

Within it, hierarchical relations within and between clans, villages, and nations, are observed and reinforced through the distribution or sometimes destruction of wealth, dance performances, and other ceremonies. The status of any given family is raised not by who has the most resources, but by who distributes the most resources. The hosts demonstrate their wealth and prominence through giving away goods. Chief O'wax̱a̱laga̱lis of the Kwagu'ł describes the potlatch in his famous speech to anthropologist Franz Boas,

We will dance when our laws command us to dance, and we will feast when our hearts desire to feast. Do we ask the white man, 'Do as the Indian does?' It is a strict law that bids us dance. It is a strict law that bids us distribute our property among our friends and neighbors. It is a good law. Let the white man observe his law; we shall observe ours. And now, if you come to forbid us dance, be gone. If not, you will be welcome to us."

to me coming from the blood of the cherokees i see this as to much shit chokes up the pipe, and in purification rests in getting rid of the shit periodically .
its psychologically sound if ya think about it..
the human mind is only so big at this stage of evolution, and such ''accidents'' as a house burning down or the total loss of ones belongings is a blessing .,.. stright up!!
a healing if you will,,, a new start, another chance, if the brain is even close to waking up that is...
but you know how we love to whine about our losses,,,,,,

how do they do it? in a word, denial.

the truth is this: most of us are so fucking scared that we will do anything, say anything, deny anything, and give up everything - most of all our liberties and our very selves even - for the perception that we are being kept safe! even when we know we're not.

meanwhile, reflections that we are anything but safe, particularly from the actions of our so-called protectors, continue to prompt us to look at our own denials... p

Ahhh, so I can make my own Hot Spring GD :-) I think from the article this excerpt really exemplifies the potential of Geothermal " 0.2 percent of U.S. energy in 2010 ". I don't expect that to be changing much in the months and years to come. With energy and resource pressures and collapsing economies, putting the kind of money and technology it will take to get that little bit ( regarding the big picture ) of heat energy out of the ground will end up not even being worth it in terms of EROEI.

On the subject of wasted money, it only cost the US two and a half Billion dollars to put a six foot sand buggy on Mars just this past week. Think of all the help for the human race that will accomplish in these dire times! But what the heck, at least the scientist are all jumping up and down happy campers :-)

On another subject, its barbeque time down here in the southwest. My wife said it was 109 at her work today in San Bernardino. But us Desert Rats are taking it all in stride, only turning on our swamp cooler on one day so far this summer, and we never use our air conditioner system :-) Open windows at night and various fans do us just fine :-)

But then there is the new info at the Weather Channel that July was the hottest month every recorded in the US, since they have been keeping records in 1895. With the massive drought in the middle US I hate to think of what the food prices will be soon. Just more signs of the weather going increasingly awry. Pheonix hit a record today of 116 degrees. Those people will be toast soon, literally!

GD, you would have liked to meet those folk I mentioned earlier, Bob and Susie up near our property in Norther Cal. They have a real nice garden going and you would really love their homestead in the forest. Hows your garden these days?

HSW: Yeah sounds like Bob & Susie have a nice spot laid out in the forest up there, I always wanted to live in woodland, I'm a closet bodger so very interested in all things coppice/pollard/traditional woodland management/crafts. Our land is far too wet for hazel coppice (specially this year) so I've had to switch to willow for my woodworking fix, we have 8 different weaving varieties and other biomass varieties, I'd like to double the number of willow beds this winter, planning to plant another 500 trees.

Great pics btw, thanks for sharing, you have a lovely family and it was great to see you all enjoying the great outdoors in such splendid scenery :)

After a year of recovery (amputation, then inaction leading to prolapsed disc and torn rotator cuff, only just getting fit again now) the garden took a back seat this year, no annual crops besides "no dig" maincrop potatoes. I have been busy collecting edible perennials in a couple of raised beds though, these can take heavy mulching with woodchip (on the soil surface not dug in) so saves a ton of work. I have plans to propagate these edible perennials/dynamic accumulators for the lower layers in my forest garden, besides the fruit/nut trees I've only managed to get lots of blocking 14 comfrey in the ground layer so far. Eventually I plan to retail these plants, I think there's a huge gap in the market for edible perennials, very few suppliers (only 2 over here!)

Look at the the new NOAA/NCDC U.S. Climate Reference Network, after spending millions of dollars to put in this new network from 2002 to 2008, because the old one is full of corrupted data/siting issues/heavy UHI bias, they are still giving us data from the old one when they report a U.S. national average temperature.

Using the old network, NOAA says the USA Average Temperature for July 2012 is: 77.6°F

Using the NOAA USCRN data, the USA Average Temperature for July 2012 is: 75.5°F

The difference between the old problematic network and new quality controlled USCRN is 2.1°F cooler.

Which shows the US records ain't beating 1936 temps yet, well within the bounds of natural variation. Since the new network has been operational for 4 years, I can only assume they choose to report US temp records based on the old faulty network for propaganda purposes, there is no scientific reason to do so.

Re food prices: To me the whole thing stinks of rigging the system in the food commodities casino. Create the illusion of scarcity and then bet the correct way to win big. See how the CAGW meme plays into this? Enables it much?

In summary, we have record low grain inventories globally as we move into a new crop year. We have demand growing strongly. Which means that going forward even small crop failures are going to drive grain prices to record levels. As an investor, we continue to find these long term trends…very attractive. Food shortfalls predicted: 2008 http://www.financialsense.com/fsu/editorials/dancy/2008/0104.html

“Recently there have been increased calls for the development of a U.S. or international grain reserve to provide priority access to food supplies for Humanitarian needs. The National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA) and the North American Export Grain Association (NAEGA) strongly advise against this concept. Stock reserves have a documented depressing effect on prices… and resulted in less aggressive market bidding for the grains. July 22, 2008 letter to President Bush http://www.naega.org/images/pdf/grain_reserves_for_food_aid.pdf

And here are the winners

…Bankers recognized a good system when they saw it, and dozens of speculative non-physical hedgers followed Goldman’s lead and joined the commodities index game, including Barclays, Deutsche Bank, Pimco, JP Morgan Chase, AIG, Bear Stearns, and Lehman Brothers, to name but a few purveyors of commodity index funds. The scene had been set for food inflation

…In 2003, the commodities futures market still totaled a sleepy $13 billion. But when the global financial crisis sent investors running scared in early 2008…

… money flowed, and the bankers were ready with a sparkling new casino of food derivatives.
… Hard red spring wheat, which usually trades in the $4 to $6 dollar range per 60-pound bushel, broke all previous records as the futures contract climbed into the teens and kept on going until it topped $25. ….In a recently published briefing note, Olivier De Schutter, the U.N. Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, concluded that in 2008 “a significant portion of the price spike was due to the emergence of a speculative bubble.”

What was happening to the grain markets was not the result of “speculation” in the traditional sense of buying low and selling high. Today, along with the cumulative index, the Standard & Poors GSCI provides 219 distinct index “tickers,” so investors can boot up their Bloomberg system and bet on everything from palladium to soybean oil, biofuels to feeder cattle. But the boom in new speculative opportunities in global grain, edible oil, and livestock markets has created a vicious cycle. The more the price of food commodities increases, the more money pours into the sector, and the higher prices rise. Indeed, from 2003 to 2008, the volume of index fund speculation increased by 1,900 percent….

That was an interesting article about the geo-thermal site just outside of town. In fact, we are planning to go fishing at East Lake up at Paulina this weekend. Will look around, feel the rocks, etc.

Boy, the bad news just keeps piling up. WWIII could break out anytime, earthquakes appearing all over the place - lots of 5's on the West coast today, East coast being evacuated by the military, wildfires, drought, flooding, you name it. And, that's not even including the face-eating zombies and psychotic episodes and serial shooters. Meanwhile, the Olympics ... all those wholesome kids and idealism a(plus the marketing). It's too much for my poor brain. Sometimes it feels as if I am being kicked in the gut.
The weather has finally warmed up over the past two weeks, and for some reason the chem trails have disappeared, so it's been sunny, too. So the garden is catching up and if the weather holds through Sept., we may have a good year yet. Going to need to store up as much as possible with the coming increases in the cost of food.

GD, You mentioned " amputation ", can you tell us a bit more about that? I see you have a lot going on with your garden and plantings :-)

Regarding our heating planet and the epic drought thats now occuring in the middle US, I don't think you would get any farmers being affected as seeing that occurance as part of some " business plan " of the elites. The artic ice extent average since 1979 has diminished 7.1% per year:

http://nsidc.org/arcticseaicenews/

another clear sign that earth's atmosphere is getting hotter. Now compare that ice loss with the graph here showing CO2 increase since 1960:

http://www.esrl.noaa.gov/gmd/ccgg/trends/

I don't think the weather channel is trying to trick people into thinking its hotter than it really is. They also told a while back about how there were twice as many record highs than record lows 2000-2010 period, and the same has been occurring since then. But I know we have differing opinions on this particular subject.

Whatever the truth of the matter, the increasing extremes of earth's weather is something humanity will have to deal with more and more, like the drastic effects of the current epic drought in the US for example. Today there is an alert here in the So Cal area for people to reduce their electricity usage to avoid possible brown outs. Our power went out briefly a while ago. And a sign of the coming heat and austere times, the local news had a segment on " how to live without air conditioning ", which more and more people will be forced to do for economic reasons.

So where do you live GD, in England I think. Alot cooler over there, lucky you :-)

Don't know what to make of all the stuff going on. I'm reading Wes Jackson's book "Consulting the Genius of the Place." In this he says that climate change is not a new occurrence. It began 10,000 years ago when humans broke the ground to plant seeds.

I have been following him and Wendal Berry for many years now and find them both very inspiring and knowledgeable about food and farming.

What it gets down to is feeding ourselves, never mind the fuel crisis, or what ever other crisis that may be around. No soil, no food. For that matter, nothing else either. For all that we have comes from the mother Earth. We, all humanity around the earth, must acknowledge this or we are All Doomed!

HSW: Yeah, I managed to cut my thumb off on a 28" circular saw while cutting firewood for a musical gathering in our field. A compromised workspace, rushing ("I'll just cut that small pile before a break"), and a bad mood after one of many phone calls to social services regarding my fathers care, were compounding factors! They sewed it back on, but it later went black and died, I had to go back in for an amputation, they took the last inch from the knuckle. At least I can still play the guitar, barr chords are still a bit of a struggle but I'm getting there :) The nerves are still a bit weird, gets cold real easy, and I keep dropping stuff when I forget it's an inch shorter, my brain seems to think it's still there! I was on a ruck load of morphine for months, which led to me getting all out of shape, lost a lot of muscle tone, put my back into spasm while sneezing, prolapsed disc (old Navy injury includes two broken vertebrae) so I was back in hospital on more morphine, recovering from that I tore my rotator cuff, last 12 months have not been my best! Thumb is OK now, back is still dodgey (I'll always be a glassback methinks) and I'm getting physio for the shoulder, we're getting there!

Re food, this is the first time in human history we don't have a grain reserve in case of crop failure, this is due to the bankers being allowed to turn the commodity markets into a rigged casino, they profit from shortages while lobbying to prevent a strategic grain store.

Climate/weather has had these effects from time immemorial, they were eating children during famines only 200 yrs ago, there are many instances of this in history, globally, climate is not a static thing, it never was.

Re Arctic sea Ice: the satellite record is only available since 1978, the big climate shift happened in 1976 when the PDO went +ive this is a c.30 yr cycle so we need at least 60yrs data to draw any conclusions, certainly to rule out the PDO and a longer record to rule other ocean cycles. Roy Spencer shows all the warming is accountable from ENSO frequency, I'm waiting for his new book to come out with even more detail than he has put on his blog.

Summer ice extent is not really temperature dependant, it's always well below zero, most of the big changes every year in melt extent are wind driven not temp driven.

Have a look how many times in history the NW passage has been talked about, it was open in the 1905 when Roald Amundsen, a Norwegian explorer, successfully navigated it in a wooden sailing ship, submarines were surfacing at the pole in the 1950's, we need a much longer ice extent record before we start screaming "unprecedented". Alaska had periods of significantly higher summer temps during the last 3000yrs, there is nothing unprecedented about current Arctic temps IMO. It looks like warming started at the end of the little ice age 1800-1850. "The recovery from the LIA was not step function-like. A large number of data sets show that the recovery, namely the temperature rise, was approximately linear from 1800~1850 to 2000. There was no obvious break in the rate of temperature rise during the last 150~200 years, so it is likely that the recovery from the LIA is continuing to the present. The only complication is that the multi-decadal oscillation, of the amplitude ~0.2°C and a period of about 60 years, is superposed on the linear change. It peaked in about 1940 and 2000. After 1940, the temperature change was negative until 1975, so a similar negative trend may continue until about 2030.

see the graph, it makes more sense than anything the IPCC put out (and this is from a warmist scientist)

It's all political mate, it's an elite business model, like everything else. GD.

Ouch GD! Well I had something kinda similiar happen. Back when I was a house framer I was up eight feet on a ladder making a cut with a skill saw, I lost my balance and when I grabbed to stabalize myself my the little finger got into the saw blade. Thankfully I didn't fall but my finger was cut through the bone in the middle, and sticking sidways.

It took nine hours before I got to the right hospital who finally gave me some pain killers. The doctors did a fantastic job and put my finger back together with various pins and a type of spint to hold it all together while healing.

Today someone could not even tell which finger almost got cut off if I did not point out the scar to them. The only thing residual is that it does not go completely straight when streched out. A week after the accident the Doc took the splint stuff off to look at the finger and it was twice as big and looked very ugly, like a monster's finger :-)

I also have a genetically deformed vertebae in my back and because of it I have to be real careful in lifting things or in bending over. Something slipped in my back in a couple of instance in my life, leaving me pretty much in great pain and useless for the time it lasted, about a week in each occurance. Thankfully I was fixed by chiropractors in each case. Excercise helps greatly with this problem. My spine has become curved over time because of the imbalance created by the deformed vertebrae ( in lower back ). All in all, at almost 55 I am thankful to have good health :-)

One suggestion about that lost information you mentioned in that post of links, what I do is regularly save what I am writting if its longer, refreshing the save at a few points during the writting that way I never lose much if anything of what I am writting. I finally just made that a habit after losing long postings in the past :-) I also save a copy of the finished post in Word Pad in case of some posting problems so I can repost the info.

Regarding the world's climate, I still think the evidence is solid about human production of excess CO2 being the main driver of the current warming and increasingly chaotic weather, but on the other hand I do keep an open mind and don't consider myself as infallible at all in my various observations/assumptions.

You have posted info that you consider legite, and I have done the same. No matter the " real " causual factors I don't think myself that we can do much except for adapting to what the climate will be bringing our way in the future.

I've seen every type of back specialist over the yrs, as you say exercise has beat them all, I do a 40 min routine every day, good stretch routine with core muscle exercises seems to be getting me back to fitness. Have a look at this treatment you can do yourself (it's 50 min film) Link I've heard great things about it from my old windsurfing chums, I only saw it last week and immediately started carving myself a "spoon" because the film made so much sense to me.

missing links from above post
The Continuing Recovery From The Little Ice Age (full paper linked at bottom of post)
warmer periods in Alaska over the past 3000 years
And here's a Link to an Arctic warning originally in the Washington Post.....

"The Arctic ocean is warming up...seals are finding the water too hot... all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto unheard-of temperatures in the Arctic zone...Within a few years it is predicted that due to the ice melt the sea will rise and make most coastal cities uninhabitable." Problem with that? It was published in 1922!

You said " I don't think myself that we can do much except for adapting to what the climate will be bringing our way in the future."

I agree, but I would also argue we should have preps to adapt to a colder climate too, my research points to cooling over the next 30yrs, remember the colder the global climate, the more intense storms as they are driven by the temp difference between the equator and the poles, this is shown by a lessor number of storms during warm periods compared to cold periods.

"but on the other hand I do keep an open mind" good show, I think I needed to hear it. ;) GD

GD and HSW; Since you guys are obviously watching all things weather-related, you'll probably find this rather interesting.

Excerpt from Chris Hedges' latest column at Truthdig.

"...Barack Obama’s administration has appealed Judge Forrest’s temporary injunction and would certainly appeal a permanent injunction. It is a stunning admission by this president that he will do nothing to protect our constitutional rights. The administration’s added failure to restore habeas corpus, its use of the Espionage Act six times to silence government whistle-blowers, its support of the FISA Amendment Act—which permits warrantless wiretapping, monitoring and eavesdropping on U.S. citizens—and its ordering of the assassination of U.S. citizens under the 2001 Authorization to "...Use Military Force, or AUMF, is a signal that for all his rhetoric, Obama, like his Republican rivals, is determined to remove every impediment to the unchecked power of the security and surveillance state. I and the six other plaintiffs, who include reporters, professors and activists, will most likely have to continue this fight in an appellate court and perhaps the Supreme Court..."

Meteorologist with AK47's on the weather channel soon? As Randy would say, " We are so doomed! "

On the subject of the melting Arctic, note the graph in this article, the one titled " Piomass yearly minimum ice volume "

http://arctic-news.blogspot.com/2012/08/getting-the-picture.html

And these comments about a recent very large cyclone in the Arctic " Recent events in the Arctic underline this warning. A huge cyclone battered the sea ice early August 2012. The image below, from The Cryosphere Today, shows a retreat in sea ice area to 3.09958 million km2 on the 222nd day of 2012, down from 3.91533 million km2 on the 212th day of 2012, i.e. 815,750 km2 less in ten days. Or, more than one-fifth less in just ten days "

Both of my brothers have their Masters in Meteorlogy. One works for NOAA and the other works for a NOAA contractor.

Gonna have to ask 'em if they'll be packing heat for their commute to work each day.

As Yoda would say,

"Doomed, we are."

Very thoughtful blog entry. It strikes me as the meeting of left and right.

Back before green was cool (mid 70's) I was an avid Sierra Club member. Then I discovered the Club promoted unilateral disarmament. That naievitae struck me as insane. Now phony environmentalists who own 10,000 square foot homes themselves sell fear of global warming to gain global control.

After 12 years of Catholic schools
I discover the Church took 300+ years to admit it was wrong about Galileo...not to mention they protected pervert priests for decades (centuries?)because they care more about the Church's survival than children's lives .

And women! Do you have to hate men to believe in women's rights?
Sorry, I like men. We evolved differently for natural reasons. Can't we just talk about HUMAN rights?

Now this administration sells FAIRNESS as though it is humanly attainable if we just let a few wise globalists control of our lives. Thomas Sowell takes care of this concept in his great book "Visions of the Annointed".
If they keep this theme going personal freedom will be as rare as septic tanks in your neck of the woods.
