A Note from Belgium (satc)

Belgium (From Belgium or Spirit Across the Sea) has kindly written a very informative post that I find shocking. We delayed posting it until I could get my nerves under control... Before reading, I would suggest that pie is in order...

Post No 1 of 2

It is very recently that Murph and Freeacre asked readers their opinion over the continuation of this blog. They had two main concerns, firstly they considered that over the years they had covered most bases and were having difficulty finding new subjects to write about. The second was that they had noticed that an increasing number of politically motivated bloggers were dropping out and wondered if they were being subjected to any pressure or at least that difficulties were being put in their way. They had concerns both for their own personal futures and also for those of their contributors and readers. Following an overwhelming positive response they decided to continue. I said I would write a couple of posts for the blog even though my output is not prolific. Typically for me I tackled the logically second post first and then went on to the first post which was about what we are not being told about Fukushima. I had two main sources for this, the first was the blog of Investigative Journalist Jim Stone with additional photos; charts and diagrams from Jennifer Lake's blog. Two days ago the following appeared as a header to Jim Stone's latest post.

“Update:

Sep 28 2011 What happened to Jim Stone?

After being detained without charges or a phone call for six days, even after repeated requests to be allowed to make a call to let friends and family know where I was, and to be allowed to call 4 radio programs to cancel appearances, I was released without charge within 43 minutes of FINALLY getting a call out in a way they did not plan for. They destroyed my business, destroyed the equipment and inventory, and forced me to flee. I have lost EVERYTHING and that is why I am now silent. Even posting this is probably a huge risk. I am under severe threat and will not post another article until I am certain I have found safety in a foreign nation. I have been left too devastated to get out of the country and am living on the streets. That's the price you pay for doing real research and getting the real truth out. Journalism, TRUTHFUL ground breaking journalism is DEAD in America.”

First MCR and now Jim Stone. It sure looks like he touched a nerve. I am determined that Murph and Freeacre whom I regard as friends should not be added to this list and so have abandoned the first post.

All the material I was going to use can be found here:

http://www.jimstonefreelance.com/fukushima.html
and here

http://jenniferlake.wordpress.com/category/1/

This has some overlapping material

http://jenniferlake.wordpress.com/category/radiation/

These articles are insanely long and my intended purpose here was to summarise them into a reasonable length without loosing the plot. Notwithstanding this I regard them as extremely important and would urge all those who want to stay appraised of the world events we don't usually get to hear about, to read them. With this introduction in place of a post and the footnotes at the end of the second post I am already well over normal length. I hope the Murphs regard them as two posts together and put them up as one piece. If they decide on balance that the material is too sensitive then I will understand.

Post No 2 of 2.

THE EFFECT OF RADIATION ON HUMANS

This is a serious subject but lets start off with a question you may think you know the answer to because the real answer made my eyes open wide.

What disease, caused either solely by radiation or radiation in combination with toxic pollution has the greatest effect on people, world wide, in modern times?

Those of you who said radiation sickness, well it was a brave try but unless you have actually witnessed a nuclear test, been one of the clean up workers at Chernobyl or live in the immediate vicinity of Fukushima then this one is not likely to affect you.
The ones who said cancer in any of its various forms are getting up there but it is not the biggie.
Line up for a gold star, all those who gave the correct answer of polio myelitis or its big brother influenza.
Not so many I see. This information is a real eye opener and jaw dropper.

So many questions come tumbling into the mind at the same time. How can it be caused by radiation when everyone knows that both of these diseases are viral? If polio is so prevalent then how come we never hear about it? I thought we eliminated polio in the 50's along with smallpox, diphtheria, scarlet fever and a host of other nasties? If polio is still around at the levels you say then what was the Salk vaccine all about with its initial main shot and two subsequent boosters? Didn't it work?

I shall be addressing all of these questions throughout this article but lets start by answering what class of disease polio myelitis actually is and how it works. But first to deal with the question that is still hanging in everybody's minds, whatever polio is and we are getting into that, a double sized polio unit is known as the disease influenza.

Polio is a brain infection, sometimes involving the nerves of the spinal cord and sometimes not. It never went away like they say. Most people who get it have a mild case of flu and then it’s gone –almost no one thinks twice about it or ever guesses that it might be something other than the familiar symptoms of a normal ‘bug’

Not climbing the mountain of lies surrounding the nature of the disease will not preserve the life you have now because at the heart of Polio’s story are the most fundamental issues of Life. The future of your experience has been pre-determined unless you take an active role in moderating the outcome. The War on Germs is a War on You. Take it personally.

But how is it that people who were properly vaccinated as children end up sick with polio as adults?  How is it that a paralytic illness called Guillain-Barre Syndrome struck hundreds of Americans in the round of 1976 swine flu vaccines? What’s happening in the world today with Alzheimer’s and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, MS and other neurological illnesses afflicting so many? Is it normal? Is it contagious? Is it pollution? Does it cause cancer? Is it in the vaccines? A frightening surge of perplexing illnesses, including AIDS and Ebola have emerged since the late 1970s. Are these “polio-like” in some way? Is there a parallel in the 1970s and 80s with the emerging illnesses that followed the Spanish Flu in the 1920s and 30s? More questions than answers appear, but unravelling the history of polio has surprising discoveries in store.

First, we need to know what polio is, the way medical experts describe it, and second we need to know that the official historical record began erasing polio as quickly as possible in the mid-1950s in order to give the appearance of creating a successful vaccine –successful, not in the ordinary sense, but in the triumphant and heroic sense of the Greatest Medical Achievement of All Time!

I am not a microbiologist and I hope that I have this right but as I understand it the whole thing works like this. Radiation from whatever source attacks the brain and sometimes the brain stem and spinal chord . Collectively this is known as the Central Nervous system. The exact location of this attack depends on the type of radiation, its frequency and strength. The brain is slower to show signs of this attack than other bodily organs however the specific part of the brain under attack controls a specific part of the body or organ. For instance polio attacks the part of the brain which controls the lower part of the body particularly the legs and this is noticed before brain damage becomes apparent. In order to try to protect itself the brain collects proteins and other chemicals which will minimise the effect of the radiation from the ganglia (the part of the brain which is not associated with neurons, synapses or motor functions). This collection of chemicals does not have a 'life force' and is known as a virus which is then absorbed into the brain cells under attack by the radiation. So contrary to what we have been told before, virus's are the good guys not the bad ones. The composition and size of virus's are specific to the type of radiation and hence to the part of the brain under attack. Flu virus's are similar but bigger than polio virus's and are specific to a different region of the brain. Mostly the virus's do their job and the brain repels the effect of the radiation allowing the effect of the disease to just go away but sometimes the strength of the radiation overwhelms the cells containing the virus and this is when damage to the CNS sets in with associated varying degrees of debility.

Paralytic polio was a rare disease before the Industrial Age but the palsies were not uncommon and known to be caused by toxic medicines containing mercury, arsenic and other assorted ingredients, referred to as “mercurial diseases”. Examples of toxic paralysis are all around us in nature. Snakes, spiders and species of fish in particular emit potent neurotoxins as a means of food gathering and survival defence. Our ancestors coined the word “virus” in its original meaning of  “poison”, a concept that still resonates with us now although a false belief persists that viruses are living things, encouraged by the inaccurate use of words like “live” and “killed”. Viruses are biochemical structures with crystalline shapes and coded genetic information very similar to enzymes. They’re considered key components of evolutionary change, carried in the cells of living organisms which transmit viral ‘programs’ into the greater environment, internally and externally. Viral infections are usually specific to the type of tissue infected because they are biochemically ‘directed’ and require a precise set of conditions to occur, including “receptors”. Viral infections can arise when living cells die and decompose, their viral components released in a phenomenon called a “cytopathic effect”. This is why antibiotics don’t work on viral infections, and can actually increase the presence of virus.

Large inputs of new chemicals introduced in the 1860s  began affecting small pockets of  people who shared geographic proximity, industrial labours, or contamination sources With hindsight, it’s easy to see how the Rothschilds' and Rockefellers' institutionalized their practice of eugenics. It’s much harder to encompass the scope in our present time and realize that millions of good people have been miseducated into helping them execute their plans. But planned it is. Hand over hand in the great military-industrial complex that we were warned to watch, ironically by the same man under whose tenure the polio vaccine came to fruition, the wheel has come full circle (President Eisenhower - ed).

Speaking on behalf of the Gulf War Syndrome researchers, Dr. Howard Urnovitz happened to relate his graduate experience in the lab inducing polio in animals with chemicals or radiation.  Radiation! Why has no one else told us that radiation causes polio? The obvious answer is that we might dig into the record and find out that almost everything we learned about disease is a lie and we totter now on the brink of losing the last domain which we thought was truly our own –our genes and chromosomes. If the establishment choice of  ‘treatment’ is an indication of how we are being targeted for control, Dr Urnovitz’s words are right on the money. “It’s not the germs –it’s the genome.”
Through the use of X-ray experiments, and subsequent studies on fallout, we can finally see the connection to polio and understand how hundreds of disease conditions were brought into unnatural being

                                                                                         ___________
These are quotes from research documents dating from the 1950s and 60s, most of them prepared under military auspices. The chief military concern was human performance under conditions of the Nuclear Battlefield:
“Radiation-Induced changes in the nervous system’s..central role in behaviour makes it the presumed primary mediator of radiation-induced performance deficits.” (Radiation makes soldiers performance diminish - ed).
“…One hypothesis is that a sufficiently large radiation dose causes permanent brain lesions, demyelination, and necrosis, which in turn produce chronic behavioural deficits. In addition, short-lived behavioural phenomena may be mediated by transient vascular changes that induce edema or ischemia in the CNS (Central nervous system - ed). A second hypothesis is that performance changes are mediated by significant alterations in brain function due to neurochemistry and neurophysiology. As is often the case, there is some truth in both hypotheses”
“A review of many standard radiobiology textbooks reveals the common belief that the adult nervous system is relatively resistant to damage from ionizing
radiation exposure…however, this view was eroded when it was later shown that the latency period for..radiation damage..is simply longer than it is in other organ systems.”
“In the brain…different topographical regions may have varying susceptibility to ionizing radiation.
…gamma nerve fibres are more sensitive…reflexes are more radioresistant than motor coordination..indicating that radiation mainly affects the functions of the subcortico-brainstem formations of the brain.”
“The phenomena of latent Central Nervous System radiation damage (with doses above the threshold) has been well documented.
…speculation on the likely pathogenesis of late radiation lesions reveals (a) radiation may act primarily on the vascular system…and (b) radiation may have a primary effect on cells of the neural parenchyma ['parenchyma' means "primary organ tissue"]

There are thousands upon thousands of declassified and publicly produced medical citations in the GWU archives indicating all manner of conceivable experiments with radiation and radioactive chemicals on human beings. Paralysis, cancer, birth defects, psychological disorders – this is just a taste. X-ray abuse was an essential component in paving the way for nuclear proliferation and high-energy weapons. Chemical giant Monsanto, wartime operator of the Oak Ridge nuclear facility along with Union Carbide, began pumping out reactor-made radioisotopes for medical ‘study’ in 1946 under the direction of the Atomic Energy Commission and its chief, David Lilienthal http://citizen2009.wordpress.com/monsanto/. The imperative of covering up the radiation cause of polio, and “racing for a vaccine” after 1945, is obvious in retrospect. The military-medical establishment put its top guns on the task. The anomalous propaganda and distortion of polio takes on a meaningful light with the knowledge that Operation Polio was integral to maintaining and advancing nuclear weapons. The Salk vaccine was a massive radiation experiment

This graph was designed only to bolster the DDT cause of polio, and yet it more accurately supports the  radiation cause,  strengthening an argument that pesticide poison data helps to cover-up the mass irradiation of the public. In reality, it does not. Careful perusal of this graph demonstrates radiation exposure, including the accident at Chernobyl (but not Three Mile Island until cumulative problems emerged between 1982-83). There’s nothing on the graph for 1979, yet it is famously known within the polio story that outbreaks among the Amish in 1979 were the “last wild polio” cases in North America. It simply doesn’t rate. The first burp on the line appears in 1887 and disappears completely in 1967. It’s assumed that less than one thousand recorded polio cases in a given year don’t show at all, because Zero cases in any year since the 1890s, the introduction of x-rays and radium,  has never happened. In 1983, the line takes off like a rocket with the inclusion of ‘post-polio’ diagnosis (cumulative TMI fallout from ‘venting’), peaking in 1986 (Chernobyl), dropping fast to 1991 and falling as rapidly as the ’83 rise over the course of 1992, where it levels near the case-rate of 10,000.

Heady stuff for contemporary thinkers. 90,000 commercial chemicals, gene-destabilizing radiation, and 150 years of conditioned social science later we stand on our own crossroads. Scientists have the means and the will to “build better humans”. The issues are matters of utility. Weapons and Germ Theory have proved-out the degenerate lot of the human species. The Nuclear Age’s Baby-boom generation is mature: yesterday’s polio children are in their Golden Years but  Americans would probably not survive another assault of the kind perpetrated in the 1950s. Our bodies are more fragile. The fallout from atomic-bombs has been estimated to be equivalent to 40,000 Hiroshima-sized blasts, or 16kt of deadly poisons 40,000 times over. It came down with the snow and rain, grew up with the grasses and trees, and the cycle is repeating itself with Chemtrails as we shift from Nuclear to Nanotech, biologically speaking. Nuclear energy is not going away. In fact, more is planned and the medical research hierarchy is devising ways of reconfiguring entrovirus 71 DNA to become radio-resistant.

In 1963, it also became public news that the Salk and Sabin vaccines were contaminated with a monkey virus called SV40, now known as the most useful biological agent in creating  artificial transgenic lifeforms. How deep does this experiment go?

Here is a list of diseases that are polio by another name or are medically very closely related to polio.

Accute flaccid paralysis
Entrovirus 71 (Real polio's new name)
Meningitis
Encephalitis
Influenza / Grippe (the French name is common in Europe)
Parkinson's
Multiple Sclerosis
Amytrophic Lateral Sclerosis
Lupus
Myalgic Encephalomyelitis
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Guillain-Barre Sindrome
Fibromyalgia (Sorry about that one but it was in the list)
Alzheimer's
Creutzfeld Jacob Disease
West Nile Virus (Real polio)

(FDR caught infantile paralysis when he was 39 except it isn't contagious so best medical opinion decided it was Guillain-Barre syndrome)

Footnotes

1 I would like to introduce you to Jennifer Lake. All of the material
for this post and the previous one came from either of her two blogs.
http://jenniferlake.wordpress.com/about/
http://polioforever.wordpress.com/what-is-polio/

Jennifer was a nursing student who read extensively around her subject. As a result she discovered that polio was caused by radiation alone or radiation together with toxic waste. She also discovered the depth of the fraud of the military industrial medical complex in creating modern disease, not for use just against an enemy but against the population at large. She gave up her studies to concentrate on research because she had no intention of patching people up for another ride on the health bus only for them to get thrown off again further down the road. The result is the two blogs listed above. In two years they have become an extensive work. New articles are tagged and tagged headings appear down the side of the page. An article appears in full as part of each tag so the whole subject can be read without going backward and forwards.

2 Colloidal Silver

I know some of you are into ingesting this for health reasons. I would recommend those people to read Jen's article “Every silver lining has a black cloud” subtitled “How the PTB got the informed to poison themselves.” You can then make a balanced decision on how you proceed.
Detox is usually performed with a class of chemicals called chelates (pronounced key-lates). This is a class of chemicals which seeks out heavy metals and traps them in a spatial arrangement of atoms known technically as steric hindrance. It can be thought of like a hand and fingers gripping a tennis ball however there is no chemical bond between the chelate and the metal. The body then disposes of the chelated metal in the usual way.

3 German New Medicine

I found this through Jennifer Lake's blog and was so seduced by this I was considering writing a third post about it. After getting fairly deep into microbiology for beginners for a couple of weeks I decided it was all Emperor’s Clothes and so I junked it.

The theory goes like this. Other diseases, cancer particularly, also begin with a physical assault inside the head in a similar way to radiation. According to Dr. Hamer, who invented the theory, this is not some Freudian psycho babble but a real effect that can be detected on a CT scanner. Like radiation this is always associated with a physical disease at a part of the body controlled by the brain at the point where where the brain attack occurs. The effect of disease is actually the healing process and not some random act of terrorism by nature. As the body heals then also does the brain. There is a lot more to it than that but this is the theory distilled down to its essence. The initial problem I had with this is how does leukaemia and other diseases of the blood occur since the blood doesn't have a site, it is everywhere. I did some reading around and found that Dr Hamer is not all that he first appears but that in itself does not make his theory wrong. The non-sequitur step is the initial supposition that other diseases attack the CNS in the same way as radiation. This combined with the fact that anomalies or quirks in the CT brain scan results is a known issue of some models of generation 1 CT scanners. The best thing on this one is to let you decide for yourself. I think however that Jennifer Lake is letting herself down a bit by endorsing this theory without mentioning there is unresolved controversy over it.

Here is the pro argument:

http://www.newmedicine.ca/overview.php

And here is the anti:

http://anaximperator.wordpress.com/2009/07/13/german-new-medicine-hamer-house-of-horror/

It should not be implied from this that I am throwing my weight behind Anaximperator. I consider him to be a shrill for big pharma. His purpose seems to be to denigrate anything that is not established mainstream treatment. If anything new shows promise or is well received such as this which appeared in New Scientist:

http://www.rexresearch.com/diclacet/dca.htm

it is just never mentioned, not a sausage, not even a hint of a whisper even though a well researched guy like him must know of its existence. On the balance of probabilities, however I am going with the sticky mud theory.

SATS,

I went through your links. I could not find a reference to colloidal silver. Know where you got that reference?

Oh yes,

You mention also a graph that isn't there. Can you send it and will put it in.

I am no expert by any stretch on which theory is correct regarding polio and whether it's caused by radiation. But, just in terms of additional disturbing information regarding the vaccine, here is an interview with one of the leading American vaccine researcher and inventor of many common vaccines. He talks of how the vaccines were contaminated with viruses for cancer and AIDS...

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=327_1195303011

I remember getting the polio vaccine during a big outbreak of polio in 1955 or so. Right after is first came out. And now I've had fibromyalgia for almost ten years. Hummm.

One more reason to loathe Big Pharma and all their minions.

Thanks for putting this post up guys. Over the years that the internet and this blog has been in existence, more and more things are finding their way into the light. This latest information is another piece of the puzzle that had got lost under the cushion but can now take its place in producing a more complete picture. All of the pieces are equally important in informing us of the assaults that are being made on the innocents.

Colloidal Silver can be found here:

I meant to say the graph was included in the e mail attachment which contained the post and it came over when I sent it to myself as a test. God knows why these things happen, I am sure there is a little man inside the computer raging against the machine.

Also, before anyone asks, I personally do not know if chem trails contain nano-particles. This section was C&P'd from Jen's blog and the section would not have run the same if I had left it out.

Just to clear one thing up re what I called Post 1 ; what we are not being told about Fukushima. The reason that Jim Stone got busted and ended up living on the streets is because he had the temerity to call out Netanyahu directly over the Stuxnet cause of Fukushima.

A brave guy, not many would have done it.

Sats,
This post is just amazing. I just picked up a book at the library which goes into this very thing, polio and the Salk vaccine. Also it's about monkey viruses being injected into vaccines! The book is titled "Dr. Mary's Monkey", by Edward T. Haslam.
My parents would not allow us, as children, to be vaccinated with the Salk drug. As far as I know, none of my siblings have the symptoms listed. Nor I. The others do seem to have other physical issues and so forth, but I attribute that to life style and not taking care of themselves.
What a post.

SATS,

I went to all of your links. Very damned interesting to say the least. The graph is worth noting also.

At this site and many other there is a railing against the pharma industry and what they have done to the populace. This link also contains some data that is indeed alarming. http://www.mercola.com/ When this short link is viewed however, notice the estimates. I do wonder how accurate these estimates really are. I have no idea. But, the original medical injunction concerning "do no harm" sure seems to be lacking in medical use today.

After going through all the links contained in SATS post and the links contained in the links, I am left with "we are so doomed".

Montana, the link to the colloidal silver should be scanned concerning the medical jargon and look mostly at conclusions and then draw your own conclusions. My conclusions are that you should never breathe in nano silver and very much limit swallowing the stuff. sigh.

Belgium; Fascinating report. Thanks for all that hard work. I started following the links to the Jim Stone page and began reading his expose on the falsification of info concerning the Japanese megaquake.

Don't know if you read this , by Yoichi Shimatsu, but there appear to be a lot of similarities in their stories. Different interpretations for why things happened, maybe.

It appears Stone has some damned valid points concerning the severity of the quake and the lack of structural damage extant prior to the tsunami. Like 9/11, much evidence is captured clearly on video for the whole world to see, and consider, but will the world look?

Come to think of it, I and so many of my contemporaries take thyroid supplements. Why are so many of our thyroid glands so impaired? Could it be due to the radiation that we have been exposed to all of our lives?
Duh.

Well I'll be dipped! I just looked up the sites mentioned and found Jennifer Lakes. She is and has reviewed the book I just picked up.I hope that I haven't "lost control of my fragile higher faculties" as she has put it.
I swear, it's getting to become who does one believe and what does one believe anymore? WW 1, WW 11, Korea, Cuban Missile Crisis,( I was in on that too. We brought the invasion force to Cuba from the west coast. I believe in the neighborhood of 50, 000 Marines.) Tonkin Gulf, Viet Nam, Gulf War, 9/11, WMD's, Penn State, and on and on and on.
Just what in hell is going on here anyway? What do these pieces of human waste want? How much is enough? What is this country about, the world too for that matter?
I don't have answers for any of this stuff! I have lots of questions but I bet there aren't many answers either!
Why not just pull the big plug and say Good night Chet, good night David", and  begin all over again?

That was a fascinating link Murph – Death by Medicine. It seems like all the rabbit holes are connected.

Rp If I can increase overall awareness with these pieces then the effort is a bagatelle. Besides the main work was done by others, for me it was a collating and condensing exercise with some personal comments and observations thrown in by me. The problem in these cases is one of information overload and deciding what to leave out. WRT Jim Stone, the fact that the broken sea defences were all pointing out to sea was a big give away.

Bexar Thanks for the kind words. Hey what a coincidence. Jen Lake casts some doubt on Ed Halsham's credibility that you might want to catch up on.

This whole Penn State/Sandusky thing is just beyond words. I thought I had a pretty good understanding of male sexuality, but now I'm even questioning that!

Maybe we SHOULD just come to terms with the fact that we don't know the truth of much of anything, and just try to build the reality that we want to be true from now on. Cuz this world is looking like a horror show.

Quite a post you contributed there SATS. I'll have to read it later when I get some time.

Here is something I saw on Free Speech TV today. This singer Makana in Hawaii got to play his guitar and sing for 45 minutes at the APEC meeting in front of all of the world leaders. Check out what he sang. At the link just below the video posted " Occupy With Aloha " you can use the link under it titled " A fuller version can be heard at Democracy Now " and at that video its set up to view between the 36 minute and 45 minute section where Makana talks about why he did the " Occupy " song and there is a longer version of his song in the 40-45 minute section.

For those who want to hear the whole 'We are the Many' piece by Makana, it is at this link at YouTube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xq3BYw4xjxE&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL

....Makana, by his 'in your face' style, shows that we should believe in what we perceive to be right, and not be afraid to express ourselves. He gave a voice to those in the Occupy movement. He gave the message to the leaders of APEC nations and Obama, whether it was heard, or if they will listen, only time will tell. He deserves respect that for one day, he was the voice of the many in the presence of the few, the powerful....

So, one of the human health side effects associated with global dimming caused by geoengineering efforts currently deployed by the powers that be is a reduction in vitamin D production. Doesn't vitamin D promote healthy immune systems? And radiation damage is exacerbated by immune system repression? Isn't that lovely? I'd call that a two-fer for the new world order maniac eugenicists.

http://www.brasschecktv.com/page/5723.html

Sats, I'm not too clear on the virus description. Could you please clarify the difference between a 'live' virus and a 'killed' virus.

I recall Baxter attempted to kill off people in 18 countries back in 2009 by injecting a 'live' avian flu virus into flu vaccines which it then distributed throughout Europe, and for which, received little more than scolding by the WHO. (Fucking murderous bastards!)

Rockpicker, Thanks for the question my friend :-/ I knew as sure as eggs are eggs that as soon as I wrote “ Our ancestors coined the word “virus” in its original meaning of  “poison”, a concept that still resonates with us now although a false belief persists that viruses are living things, encouraged by the inaccurate use of words like “live” and “killed”. Viruses are biochemical structures with crystalline shapes and coded genetic information very similar to enzymes.” someone would ask the logical follow up question, it was just a question of who it was going to be. Firstly, I thought it was important that the subject of the effect of radiation on humans should be aired to as wide an audience as possible. It was when I attempted to rationalise the reasoning behind this that I ran into trouble. Microbiology is not easy water for the layman to dip his toe into however I will attempt to answer the question as best I see it and then I will try to bounce it off Jennifer Lake for better clarification. You have probably picked on the area where I am technically weakest. I think that it is a question of new concepts or ways of thinking getting muddled with existing old nomenclature.

Let me start off with an analogy of what I mean by this. On the subject of electricity, do you remember from your school days what was described as “Conventional Current”? We knew about electrical current and lines of force in magnets and that these flowed from one pole or one end of a circuit to the other. Arhenious, in the day, decided that the current should flow from positive to negative because the thing that had more should travel to the thing that had less and give up its excess to make things neutral and that was conventional current. It was years later we discovered the nature of the atom and that positive protons formed the basis of the nucleus and that a cloud of negative electrons surrounded this. It was these negative electrons which hopped from atom to atom during electricity flow thus going from negative to positive. For a time we had the new concept running alongside the old idea of conventional current. Don't ask me what is the unique quality that makes one thing positive and another negative, I don't really know. Maybe it has something to do with particle spin but I am guessing here. If we arbitrarily called protons negative and electrons positive then Arhenious would have been right all along and it would have saved years of confusion. I think, at the moment, we are in a similar state with virus's.

I believe the quoted section above is the situation as it is now believed to be. It is difficult to come to terms with since the article What is Polio is presented in terms of the conventional wisdom.

http://polioforever.wordpress.com/what-is-polio/

The piece on influenza is presented in terms of the new concept.

http://jenniferlake.wordpress.com/influenza-special/

It is asserted that there is in fact no avian flu virus as similarly there is no swine flu virus, there is only individual flu virus formed from ganglia material. What is not clear is what is the fate of virus's released into the outer world as part of the cytopathic effect; are they contagious or are they benign or in fact inert? Can virus's be grown or manufactured in a similar way to enzymes in washing powders and if so what purpose would they have? I am sure someone knows the answers to these questions but I am at the end of my personal rabbit hole.

The situation becomes even more complicated when the subject of phages are introduced. These are micro structures similar to virus's but can be inert, active or transgenic. There are also micro phages and macro phages. Jennifer's link on an introduction to phages is broken but I found this page which was useful.

http://www.mendeley.com/research/phage-evolution-and-ecology-1/

The biggest field in this area is bacteriophage. These are described as the virus's of bacteria. They can be passed between different strains of bacteria which may have different genome structures but I don't at the moment know what the significance of this may be. I am guessing here that what Baxter may have attempted to introduce a few years back is a particular type of transgenic bacteriophage. It is misleading but not inaccurate to describe these as virus's. This is a subject I was avoiding but include it here for completeness. I know this is an unsatisfactory answer but it is the best I can for the moment. I will attempt to find out more.

Aho

By the Way Rp I found the info on Libya very interesting and could be useful for a new piece I am turning around in my head – Thanks.

For Info - Comment left on Jennifer Lake's blog 17 Nov.

Hi Jennifer,

I know that your mission is to make as many people as possible aware of your work. With that in mind I wrote a summary of part of your articles on the effect of radiation on humans and put this up as a guest post on the blog Trout Clan Campfire. This has nothing to do with fishing btw, it is more of a current events come survivalist type blog. As always proper credits were given and I know from the comments section that your blogs have recently received hits from our group. I should firstly explain that I am an English ex-pat living in Belgium. At first I used the handle From Belgium which got shortened to FB or Belgium. So as to avoid confusion between me and the country I started using my alternative handle of SATS.

After that preamble, I have a couple of questions. Firstly, if you have time, I would like you to scan the post for accuracy – did I get the message reasonably right, I hope I did.

http://troutclancampfire.blogspot.com/

It is the post of 13 Nov 2011 entitled A Note From Belgium (SATS).

Secondly, I knew I was going to run into trouble over the nature of virus’s and I played the current thinking that they are individual to the person and formed from ganglia material. I did not however have the depth of knowledge to deal with some of the questions which followed in the comments section, particularly from Rockpicker, Nov 15 – 7.35am. I tried to answer this at Nov 16 – 9.45am and Nov 16 – 9.46.am. I did my best with these answers but I am clearly out of my depth.

I would be very grateful if you would clarify the situation, either in your own comments section or by e mail to me. If you have the time and are willing I would prefer that you posted your answer as a comment on the Trout clan Campfire blog.

Many thanks in advance

An excerpt from an article by Paul Joseph Watson, Infowars:

http://www.infowars.com/mf-global-looted-customers-accounts-via-internal-bank-run/

“Both the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange were charged with overseeing MF Global, their clearing member. If we are to believe them, they had no idea of any difficulties within the firm before customer accounts went missing just a few days before the collapse. But someone clearly knew of the cratering positions and imminent collapse of MF Global, as billions of dollars of accounts were “coincidentally” withdrawn,” writes Huffington Post’s Daniel Dicker, noting how funds in accounts owned by the billionaire Koch brothers were withdrawn just in time, clearly suggesting that big players got a “heads up” that MF Global was going down."

They're eating their young. It won't be long, now.

In his latest piece, Robert Scheer points out Mayor Bloomberg's incredible arrogance and belligerence, quoting him as having stated “... it’s entertaining to go and blame people. ... It was not the banks that created the mortgage crisis. It was, plain and simple, Congress who forced everybody to go and give mortgages to people who were on the cusp.”

Ah, yes, the banksters were forced to defraud home-buyers and the international investment community, as well, raking in billions in ill-gotten gain and destroying the world economy in the process.

Or, maybe the Devil made them do it.

I just looked at the Ireland drone article again and at this point they are just " considering " using the drones. I'll bet consideration turns into actual usage more and more across the world:

rockpicker said...

That's exactly right, Hotsprings. When has a weapon, or a technology been developed by man, and not used?

Unfortunately, never. And that includes electromagnetic weather modification. The Air Force says it wants to own the weather by 2025, and in order to do that, they have to learn what works and what doesn't.

Joplin was just collateral damage, and I'm sure they figured it a shining success.

Hotspringswizard said...

Regarding this you wrote RP " learn what works and what doesn't " in thinking about the drone strikes by the US into Pakistan it really seems to me it represents the perfect real world practice zone for the US to test drones, complete with live people as targets. A place that is very remote, clear on the other side of the world from the US, with essentially no accountability for the drone strikes. It just appears to me that innocent civilians are getting blasted there, not anyone who reasonably presents any threat whatsoever to the gigantic and powerful US military might. Its a real world live field excercise to my mind with nobody to stop them. What they learn there in Pakistan concerning drones will be implemented where ever the US elites feel its necesary, outside or even inside the US I think.

They were talking about drones today on Free Speech TV, drones on the border, drones in Britain, drones at the next Olympics, Isreal producing and selling drone technology, and the increasing use of drones for law enfocement and spying purposes within the US. They also spoke of a new book thats out called " Cities under Siege " which I think goes into the subject of the increasing militarization of domestic policing in the US, where citizens are seen as the enemy and stratagies are being developed to crack down on disent and protesters within the city environment. Combine these techniques with drones and you have the perfect police state.

Right now, Congress is debating a law that would give them the power to censor the world's Internet -- creating a blacklist that could target YouTube, WikiLeaks and even groups like Avaaz!

Under the new law, our government could force Internet providers to block any website on suspicion of violating copyright or trademark legislation, or even failing to sufficiently police their users' activities. And, because so much of the Internet's hosts and hardware are located here in the US, their blacklist would clamp down on the free web for all of us in America and millions across the world.

We only have days before the vote but we can help stop this -- champions in Congress want to preserve free speech and tell us that a global outcry would strengthen their hand. Let's urgently raise our voices from every corner of America and join Avaaz members across the world to build a massive call urging our decision makersto reject the bill and stop Internet censorship. Click below to sign and then forward as widely as possible -- our message will be delivered directly to key members of the US Congress ahead of the crucial vote:

http://www.avaaz.org/en/save_the_internet_us_a/?vl

For years, our government has condemned countries like China and Iran for their clampdown on Internet use. But now, the impact of these new censorship laws could be far worse -- effectively blocking sites not only in the US but also to every Internet user across the globe.

Last year, a similar Internet censorship bill was killed before reaching the Senate floor, but it's now back in a different form. Copyright laws already exist and are enforced by courts. But this new law goes much further -- granting the government and big corporations enormous powers to force service providers and search engines to block websites based just on allegations of violations -- without a trial or being found guilty of any crime!

Free speech advocates have already raised the alarm, and some key Senators are trying to gather enough support to stop this dangerous bill. We have no time to lose. Let's stand with them to ensure our lawmakers preserve the right to a free and open Internet as an essential way for people in the US and around the world to exchange ideas, share communication and work collectively to build the world we want. Sign below to stop censorship, and save the Internet as we know it:

http://www.avaaz.org/en/save_the_internet_us_a/?vl

In the past months, from the Arab Spring to the global Occupy Movement, we've seen first hand how the Internet can galvanize, unify and change society. Now, if we stand together, we can stop this new attack on Internet freedom. We've done it before -- in Brazil and Italy, Avaaz members have won major victories in the fight for a free Internet. Let's mobilize here in the US to defeat the most powerful censorship threat that the Internet has ever seen.

With hope,

And aren't we all glad George Jr.'s policies have made the world safe for pre-emptive engagement?

I say we defuse hostilities in the middle east with distracting arrests and trials of Rothschild banksters, starting with Bank of England and Goldman.

And debt ignorance. We need to ignore much of the claimed debt, as it was fraudulent and illegitimate to begin with. Greece and Italy would do well to hound their current chief executives out of office, rather than accept proposed austerity in order that Goldman-Sacks be rewarded for its shenanigans.

The banksters are up to their old tricks again, but this time, they're playing with thermonuclear matches. They have financed, instigated and profited from every major confrontation in the last hundred years on this rock and it's about time the poor, who fight their wars, say 'fuck,no, we won't go this time!'

The kids who fly their drones for them, instead of targeting wedding parties in the desert, consider hitting your true enemies, the City of London and Wall Street.

I think deliberately destroying economies, putting millions out of work, and eventually out of their homes, is a form of violence we are not conditioned to recognize. How convenient for the holders of those deeds.

Had to chuckle. Remember a bit back when we discussed the middle class and poverty? I had suggested that ones position on the economic ladder would be better measured by the amount of money left over from from providing the necessities. Well,

The census bureau just came out with a new measurement very similar to that and the amount of poor or near poor is much higher than official govt stats imply.

murph said...

GD,

Good to hear from you again.

Here is a question for you. At what point do you suffer violence against you before retaliation? Even peaceful non violent resistance is being met with violence from the state. Is there any point where further pacifism is self defeating? I would posit that yes there is a point. Have we reached that point? This is one of the problems that has to be dealt with; when the state is given to the sole use of violence and where it is given legitimacy.

I would emphatically agree that violence from the citizens against the violence put upon them from the state contains many dangers. But, I also see problems with not violently opposing it. It appears to me that most societies are faced with this problem, and in the US it is very apparent. Passive resistance to state sanctioned violence appears not to be working. The new world order cannot tolerate much in the way of self sufficiency and divorcement from that order. Already we are seeing examples where attempts by self reliant communities are having violence put onto them by the state.

It appears to me in reviewing history that eventually that state violence has to be met with violence, and the accompanying dangers that brings.

We should have listened more closely to Jefferson I think.

rp, Murph,

Sure there comes a time when one might have to use violence to defend oneself, but there is a big difference between defending oneself, and advocating (on the internet!) to the kids who fly drones that they target the US and UK financial centres.

The point I was making was rather a heads up about the choice of venue for such encouragement, especially in the light of the OP; and the verbiage used, especially in the light of the Patriot act.

Another way to put it might be.."use a hardware store over a gun any day. Guns make you stupid; better to fight your wars with duct tape. Duct tape makes you smart"

now then "Passive resistance to state sanctioned violence appears not to be working."

I would say this is by design, considering OPTOR! seem to have had a large hand in "protest logistics & admin" worldwide. It would seem the PTB have already planned for violent protest (fema camps anyone) and further, that it would be their preferred response to forward a particular agenda, and provide a scapegoat to blame for the collapse at the same time.

If the "protests" allow their message to be morphed into shouting for tobin/bank/robin hood taxes (as it seems to be doing) they will be doing the PTB bidding IMO.

http://eureferendum.blogspot.com/2011/11/tax-unelected-are-desperate-to-have.html

The protests should be about monetary reform, without sovereign money we're just chattel. Anything else is lipstick on a pig IMO.

GD

RAS said...

The OWS movement is eventually going to spawn riots and violence. It's inevitable, IMO. It happened in the 60s and police tactics were a lot less brutal then than they are today. These people are pissed off and sooner or later one of them is going to get the idea in his head that he needs to do something other than passively resist.

I have friends at several of these gatherings, and I keep warning them to be careful, but they just look at me like I have two heads. They don't understand why I won't join them. I've tried to explain that being pepper sprayed and clubbed isn't the way to make my life better, and even if it was, I don't have the bail money, but they don't understand.

murph said...

GD,

Had to chuckle over the duct tape makes you smart, guns make you stupid comment. Not sure I'd agree with that.

I most certainly agree that it is very probable that the PTB is hoping to goad the population into active serious rebellion to justify a harsh smack down.

If we can agree about the systemic economic and governmental problems we see going on today, the question that arises for me is how to change it. It appears to me that voting won't change it, peaceful demands and demonstrations won't, legal recourse won't and social withdrawal from the system won't, all within the social contract (constitutional contract). Should the population just give up and live with whatever is thrown at us? I suspect that a majority will do that at this time, particularly for the folks that have not been harshly affected yet by the policies.

As more and more folks become affected, that is, having nothing more to lose, what will be their reaction?

Oh yes, I quite agree that the venue for advocating violence is important. Especially with the current repressive laws that we are subject to, principally the Patriot Act etc.

I see no momentum developing by enough folks to change anything without an active rebellion. The PTB have been enormously successful in dividing the country along ideological and racist lines. We have at this time no consensus on anything, even the desirability of freedom or what that means. We cannot return to a past time and with no real vision for the future that we all can agree on, there will be no change. As a population, we have no discernment concerning consequences, no planning that is consistent and hypocrisy has become the norm.

I sure wish I had an answer to how to change all this without an immense amount of blood shed.

RP, I read Fidel's posting when I see them on Global Research and I agree with you that he does have a good take on whats going on. I saw a poll on the MSN which was done to show the low ( 9% ) approval rating of congress as related to other people's and entities, and on that list it showed as the only item below congress was Fidel Castro. No suprise really as the american public have been so propagandized against Castro. That poll in no way described the truth of the man that Castro is, and his ideas. I respect his thinking.

On another subject recently discussed here I agree with Murph and RP about this issue of violence as related to any real changes that can or will occur. Just peaceful protesting will not bring about the kinds of changes that would be truly meaninful, but the way of force against the ruthless and corrupt elites will meet a vicious response from the PTB in all the ways at their disposal. The history of humanity is just a long endless list of revolutions of the many against the few when things become so skewed and unfair as things are across the world in this time we live.

RP that Nigel youtube was great. I'd send it to my brother but he is still on dialup. I tried to convince him to get some high speed but he thinks everything is going to collapse soon so its not worth his bother.

I see today that Rick Perry made some recent statement about how the military leaders should alone get to decide what they do, and how to do it militarily and they should not be instructed by any civilian authorities in this regard. Clearly crazy Rick wants the Military Industrial Complex to be our rulers. I think he is toast at this point regarding the elections. He really reminds me alot of Bush Jr.

Hotsprings, you just said in the above comment "The history of humanity is just a long endless list of revolutions of the many against the few when things become so skewed and unfair as things are across the world in this time we live." And I agree with you.

But, interesting patterns develop when you scrutinize history. The Bolsheviks were financed by the Rothschild cabal. Fact. So were the Nazis. These two locked horns in a fight to the finish and both sides ended up owing the Rothschild banks billions for the war. Pretty sweet business, eh?

Plus, in the deal, between the two world wars, (which many historians see as one war with an extended armistice separating the two major engagements,) the Rothschilds were rewarded with their own country. Oy. Such a deal who could refuse?

You have a valid point there, GD. Too often in the past, the masses have attacked the most obvious culprits, when, in fact, the real PTB prefer anonymity to celebrity.

Perhaps, for the first time in history, we can see clearly how the game is played, and name the main players.

That kid with the Starbucks and the joy stick controls slides into his daily routine, flies his birds, goes home to his young wife and family, without ever having to wash blood off his hands. Who knows what he sees in the mirror?

The death and destruction of innocent human life he is initially responsible for arrives on his desk each day from an unchallenged chain of command. He does his job. He accepts his pay. But the ultimate responsibility can be traced up the chain, and that chain leads beyond the Pentagon, even beyond the White House and Capitol Hill.

We all know this is true. It's how the system has worked. We do our jobs without complaint, we collect the crumbs, the creature comforts the system offers us in return for our complicity.

All our hands are bloody. Our gas tanks slosh with guilt.

My suggestion that we attack the West's financial centers with drones was , perhaps, a sad metaphorical attempt clothed in black humor. But there is nothing funny about the masses in this country staring down our financial masters, and demanding an abolishment of their machinery.

Tweaking won't get it. Reforms, they're prepared to concede, if necessary. But the infinite growth paradigm is dead, and so must go old concepts, like usury, fractional reserve banking and the federal reserve system.

If you accept that premise, then imagine power relinquishing its dominance peacefully.

I would say GD that for myself I have not been in a physical confrontation with anyone since early grade school ( I'm 53 now ), so violence is certainly not something that I am at all eager to be involved with, but violent confrontation because of the various issues of gross unfairness is solidly a part of the nature of humans. History and current events around the world show this without a doubt.

I am reminded of seeing a video of these indigenous peoples trying to protect their forest from corportation plunderers, and one woman on the front lines said basically this, " the forest is our mother. What would you do if someone was raping your mother? "

These people were violently confronting the destroyers of the forest, the magnificent biological system that made these peoples lives possible. So should these people just behave peacefully and negotiate endlessly until their world and their lives are destroyed? Is all that matters that one remain peaceful, as their world is destroyed around them? Would you look your children in the eyes and say to them its ok that we are all washed away because the thing of highest importance is that we remained peaceful?

The above mentioned real life situation also reminds me of the theme in the movie Avatar, where corporation plunders of earth went to Pandora to do what they do, destroy indeginous populations, their lands, their ways of life.

Just like in real life those bent on destruction and dominance would not have been thwarted by the Navi, or the real life people in my other mentioned story just behaving peacefully and nonviolently, protesting passively while the treasure that brought them life continued to get bulldozed into oblivion.

Thinking things will change significantly by mere peaceful actions is Idealism. Someone can sing a song " give peace a chance " but out in the real world should innocent Pakasani citizen getting blasted by a rogue empires drones for target practice just march around with peace signs imploring the joy stick war profiteers to be nice?

The injustice in this regard through history and across the world in these days are myriad and never ending. No " new age " is going to unfold where suddenly humans evolve to some general state of mind where peace and sustainable practices become the guides of their actions. What has gone on will coninue, cycles of unjustices and gross unfairness followed by various forms of violence. With things in society being as unbalanced as they are, with growng critical resource supply problems and large masses of the world's populations increasingly put upon by the privelaged few, clearly we are headed for times of social turbulance of an unprecendented scale as societies systems collapse.

GD,
I don't believe in violence in this sort of thing, and I am doing exactly what you suggest. Nor do I encourage violence.

Not everyone sees things this way, however. You have to remember that we have a very sketchy rational mind grafted onto a well-developed monkey hindbrain that likes to take over.

I see the turn to violence in these protests as inevitable, but I will not be any more involved in that than I am now.

Hotspringswizard said...

Defending yourself and your loved ones or even other unfortunates against gross unfairness has nothing to do with " a well-developed monkey hindbrain that likes to take over ". Defence is rational, and at times it must involve force of various forms. Lots of " good germans " stood by which aided Hitler in carrying out his atrocious acts. What did the " good germans " actions accomplish toward any good? Their inaction made things worse, not better. On the other hand it was those in the " resistance " that contributed something concrete towards putting down the horror and grave threat of Hitler, and aggressive and violent actions had to be part of this. None of this says that I wish for or like violence.

This is from Douglas Herman. How prescient of Jefferson.

http://www.rense.com/general95/scor.htm

"Nearly 200 years ago, Jefferson wrote: "If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs..."

Randy, the other night, when Gerald Celente told Jeff Rense how MF Global stole everything in his account, to the tune of six figures, Rense let out an audible gasp. I remember thinking then, this is a major blunder by the 'white shoe boys.'

Turns out, to add insult to injury, the Koch Bros. and some of their elite buddies got tipped off, before Corzine emptied his clients accounts, and were thus able to escape damage.

It's one thing to piss on the laboring class, but quite another to soak your trading partners and expect impunity.

Are the US and Nato getting ready to do in Syria, what they just did in Libya?

http://www.blacklistednews.com/Aircraft_Carrier_CVN-77_Parks_Next_Door_To_Syria_Just_As_US_Urges_Americans_To_Leave_Country_%22Immediately%22/16697/0/38/38/Y/M.html

Aircraft Carrier CVN-77 Parks Next Door To Syria Just As US Urges Americans To Leave Country "Immediately"

.... "The U.S. Embassy in Damascus urged its citizens in Syria to depart "immediately," and Turkey's foreign ministry urged Turkish pilgrims to opt for flights to return home from Saudi Arabia to avoid traveling through Syria."....

It is also looking like a no fly zone will soon be implemented over Syria.

rockpicker said...

Not only that, but NATO is urging Turkey to cross the border with its forces in order to establish a buffer zone through which small arms might be disbursed to Syrian rebel factions. Meanwhile the Russians have deployed vessels in the eastern Mediterranean, having signed mutual defense treaties with Iran. You think Iran will sit by while NATO shoves its sword up Syria's ass?

“The Degree To Which You Resist Is The Degree To Which You Are Free.”

....The first vibrations, closer to tremors, transpired because the ground below us has been fracked of dreams...the void engendered seismological activity. Now, from Cairo, Egypt's Tahrir Square to Syntagma Square in Athens, Greece to Liberty Park, in New York, New York to Oscar Grant Park, in Oakland, California, we have become like tuning forks, in sympatico with the resonances of the tormented earth....

Yeah,Hotsprings! Good ol' Phil Rockstroh. Wondered what had happened to him.

"...the most profound act of selfless devotion (commonly called love) in relationship to a society gripped by a sociopathic mode of being is creative resistance. Submission is madness. Sanity entails subversion. The heart insists on it; otherwise, life is only a slog to the graveyard; mouth, full of ashes; heart, a receptacle for dust." --PR

RP, regarding this you wrote " You think Iran will sit by while NATO shoves its sword up Syria's ass? ", it seems this may be set up such that if Iran does attempt to come to Syria's aid that it could give a pretext for Isreal or the US to move forward on their ambtions of attacking Iran. I see where Russia said just recently that if Iran is attacked it will be a very " serious mistake ", a not so veiled threat.

And today Russia has stated that if the US and Nato sets up the missile bases on its borders then Russia will counter that by setting up its own bases capable of targeting the US bases and other European targets.

Hey, just a note to wish us all a pleasant Thanksgiving. I know that I, too, am ambivalent about the Pilgrims and Indians and all that. But, today, I just take the opportunity to be grateful to the Great Mother and the sacred Universe for all their blessings and wonders. I am also grateful to the Tribe of Trout for all your love and thoughts and support. Love to all.

HSW is the only example of violence winning in the fictional Avatar? Or did the indigenous peoples trying to protect their forest succeed?

I saw a similar documentary regarding indigenous people and their forest, one lady of the tribe was asking what she would do with "money" when her mother the forest was gone, "we can't eat money" her grandson (20 something, in western clothing) was backing her in the documentary, unfortunately at the end of the doc this young chap was shown in a video on youtube, lobbying for the mining co.

this short vid on False Authority is good...

reminds me of the freeman-on-the-land philosophy, similar to the Montana freemen, or sovereign person type stuff. Seems to me that if everyone were educated and aware of these philosophies, peaceful protest could work.

Happy Turkey day everyone over there ;)

Good to hear from you Freeacre :-) Hope you and Murph are enjoying your holiday weekend :-)

GD, as far as examples of violence winning, sure I could continue to cite instances thoughout history where aggressive action resolved situations to a more fair state of affairs, and many times represented the only reasonable course left. I'm sure we all here will try to find peaceful solutions where ever they have merit, but then there are times when that path just will not accomplish the goals.

Hotsprings, self-defense has everything to do with your monkey hindbrain taking over. That's the point. Especially when you are defending someone else; you would not do it if you were a purely rational being, because self-sacrifice is the opposite of rational.

Secondly, self-defense also has nothing to do with a protest action turning violent. That is also not a rational response; it is an outpouring of anger, which comes from the subconscious.

Historically, most violent uprisings end one of two ways: they are either crushed, and the existing system becomes more oppressive, or they succeed and replace the existing system with something worse. Very rarely do they accomplish anything useful. There are reasons for this, and I could write an entire post on the subject, but I'll just say that I don't think a violent protest movement is going to do anyone any good, especially the protestors.
